The girl smiled when he set some food down in front of her. She protested at first but saw him eat some similar food. She started to eat. She was grateful for the food. She had no idea who he was or why he had helped her. It was the first time anyone had bothered to ensure she had anything in days.
When the bell rang she followed him into class and sat beside him. The boy did not say a thing about it to her.
Later after school, she went home and he followed her. He handed her a small bag and she thanked him. She hugged him and he hugged her.
He went home.
The next day, she prepared for school. She ate a small breakfast and headed out the door with her backpack and the bag the boy had given her. It had something inside that would come in handy for today.
Today, she went to class and sat in the front row. Then, She did the same in the other class. At lunch, he paid for two meals again. One he ate, and the other the girl ate.
She looked into the small bag and blushed. Inside was a note that read, "Don't worry, I make sure you are not alone anymore. From here on out if someone asks, you are with me."
She smiled. She was grateful to this boy.
A few weeks passed and each day, the boy would buy enough food for himself and the girl. They would each lunch together, and sit together in one class. One day, something changed, and the girl came into the cafeteria in tears. The boy was hurt in an accident, and she did not know what to do. She felt so hopeless. He was her only friend.
The cafeteria worker, Luka gave the girl food without saying a word. He took care of the payment that day. The girl need not starve anymore no matter what happened. He felt sorry for her because she was in tears. She kept saying, "What if he doesn't make it?"
After lunch, the girl ran out of the school, she refused to go to the rest of her classes. She had to check on him. She went to see him. She was relieved that he was alive.
"You came?" He said. "Yes, you have been there for me, so I came to be here for you," She said.
The girl sat beside him. She told him that she would not go to the dance. "Why not? You will be the prettiest one there," He said. The girl blushed. "I can't because it would not be right to go without you," She said.
The girl's name is Nancy Lahaffe, and the boy is Tom Agreste. They are the grandchildren of Nino and Alya Lahaffe, and Marinette and Adrien Agreste.
The boy smiled at her and said, "I will make sure to get better then so I can take you to the dance."
Time skip!
Two months later...
The doctors were surprised. They had not seen anything quite like it.
Tom made a full recovery. They did not think it was possible, and today was the day of the dance. True to his word he took Nancy with him.
The students checking the name list saw Tom's name listed and frowned when they saw a girl with him. Too bad he was taken, he was the cutest boy in the entire school.
"Why is she here?" The girls scoffed.
"Yes, she is a bore."
"She is not special," Another sneered.
Many others had insulting things to say to Nancy's face. "Stop it, will ya?" Tom said as he glared at them. "Oh, and why should we?" Someone asked. Tom grinned as he wrapped an arm around Nancy, "She is With Me, and I say so that is why," He said.
Nancy smiled when Tom stood up for her as he always had.
The two danced. Neither of them noticed when the music stopped they kept on dancing. Tom kissed her and she kissed him. The two were in love.
Luka smiled when he saw the couple who won the king and queen of the dance. He felt they deserved it the most out of anyone. He cheered, "Let's hear it for Tom Agreste and Nancy Lahaffe!"
Tom and Nancy pulled apart when they heard their names being called. Tom held her arm and they slowly approached the stage together. Luka placed the crowns on their heads.
Tom smiled at her and she smiled at him.
