Kyra grabbed her books two days later, tossing them in her bag. She had ten minutes to get to her lab. Hopefully it would be interesting. She and Aubree had developed a good friendship over the last two days and Kyra was happy with her roommate. They had their first class together today and she was looking forward to it.

"Are you ready Kyra?" Aubree asked, walking out of the bathroom. She'd spent the last twenty minutes inside working on her hair and makeup.

"Yeah, I'm ready." She followed Aubree out the door and through the halls to the elevator. They were up on the fifth floor of their building.

Aubree pressed the button and then turned to Kyra. "I've heard a lot of good things about the lab professor. He's not a bad teacher. He actually makes the class interesting and not boring.

"Well, that's good," Kyra said. She really hoped so. She wanted to do well in all of her classes.

They crossed campus and entered the building where the lab was located, then headed up the steps to the second floor. Kyra followed Aubree into the classroom, and glanced at the teacher who was seated at his desk. He was busy reading a book and not paying attention to the students entering his classroom.

He was a werewolf, which surprised her. He was probably in his forties, but still handsome the way most male werewolves were. He was muscular and filled out his dress shirt nicely. She could tell from his scent that he was in a pack, and Kyra guessed he was probably a member of the Buckeye pack, as they were the only pack in Ohio and not too far away from the campus.

His classroom had tables instead of desks and Kyra followed Aubree over to one, dropping her books. She made herself comfortable and waited for class to begin. The room was filled with all sorts of interesting items, and she glanced up at the board. Mr. Conner. Her gaze darted back to the man again, though he was still reading his book, which made her smile. It must be good. She could understand that. She'd gotten caught up in her own books more times than she cared to admit to, getting lost in the story, and time would pass by much too quickly for her liking.

He glanced up once, his gaze meeting hers for a brief moment before he looked back down. He wouldn't be able to detect that she was a werewolf as her scent was masked, but her last name would definitely catch his attention, and she wondered if he'd already seen it and was curious.

"He's hot for an older guy," Aubree said, leaning in close to Kyra.

She could agree but didn't respond as she knew for certain that Mr. Conner would have overheard that comment, though he never even looked up again. Instead, she pulled out a notebook to take notes.

'Mate,' her wolf, Seraphina, whispered, her ears pricked and tail wagging in Kyra's mind.

'What?' Kyra looked up as the most amazing scent hit her and a gorgeous man walked into the classroom.

He was tall and had sandy blond hair and brown eyes. His shoulders were broad, and he wore a T-shirt and jeans. He wasn't paying attention to her though and walked by her like she wasn't even there. He was in deep conversation with his friend he'd walked in with and followed him right by her.

Kyra turned all the way around in her seat to watch him, excitement filling her. She'd found her mate! And he was human. But then, she'd mostly expected that. Her family was notorious for mating humans. Her own mother had been human, along with several other members of her very large family.

He sat down at another table with his friend, still not looking at her and she sighed, turning her attention back to her notebook, and wondering what his name was. At some point, she would need to catch his attention, and let their eyes meet. That was what would confirm that he was indeed her mate, though Sera was already pretty convinced.

"He's cute too," Aubree said, watching Kyra look at her mate. "But his friend is even cuter."

Aubree could have him. Kyra wasn't interested in anyone but the man who was her mate. She couldn't help but glance back at him again, but he still wasn't paying the least bit of attention to her. It annoyed her, but she turned, directing her attention to Mr. Conner when she heard him stand.

"Good morning. Welcome to my lab. Don't get too comfortable in those seats, as I'm going to be assigning lab partners and you're going to need to share a table with them. Let's get started."

Kyra tuned him out for a bit, half listening for her own name to be called. She wondered if she had any other classes with him, her mate, and how difficult it would be for her to date him. She hadn't realized how complicated it could be mating a human. She knew the bond that he would feel would help though.

Her father had been upfront with her mother about what he was, and her mother had told her that she'd thought he was nuts at first until he'd shifted in front of her. Kyra wasn't sure she'd be able to do that, but she hadn't even confirmed that this guy was her mate yet, either.

'He is,' Sera said.

"Kyra Remington."

Kyra looked up and met Mr. Conner's gaze as he studied her intently. She almost smiled at him. He'd be curious about her now.

"You'll be lab partners with Ajax Hale."

Ajax Hale. She wondered who that was. There were approximately twenty students total in the classroom, and more than half were male. It could really be anyone.

Aubree has already left the table when her name was called, and Kyra was a bit disappointed that she couldn't be lab partners with her, since she knew her. A book was placed on the table near her, and someone sat down.

"Hi."

Kyra felt the voice flow over her, warming her and looked up. Her gaze met his brown one and he stared back at her, his eyes wide as he felt the bond for the first time. Kyra felt like she'd been rocked and for a moment, they were the only two in the room. She suddenly realized that he'd spoken to her. "Hi."

"Ajax." He was just as rocked by her as she was him.

"Kyra." She said quietly, still looking at him. She could barely peel her eyes off of him.

"Nice to meet you," he said, his warn gaze studying her intently.

Well, she definitely had his attention now. He'd feel the bond between them, though he wouldn't know what it was. He'd just know that he was highly attracted to her and would want to pursue a relationship with her.

Mr. Conner spent most of the class talking, which meant Kyra really didn't get to talk to Ajax at all. She could feel his eyes on her though. She'd glanced at him too occasionally. Finally, it was over, and she slowly began to gather up her things.

"So, if we're going to be lab partners, we should exchange phone numbers," Ajax said. He hadn't really moved.

Kyra looked at him. This was the man she was fated to spend the rest of her life with. "Okay." She took his phone from him and put her number in it, then sent herself a text.

"What are you majoring in?" he asked.

"Business management," Kyra said. "You?"

"The same," he said and finally stood. "And unfortunately, I have to get to my next class."

She smiled at him. "I have to as well."

"See you around, Kyra." He flashed a gorgeous smile at her.

"See you around." She watched him walk away and smiled to herself, as she tossed her book bag over her shoulder, and glanced around for Aubree. The room was empty though, except for Mr. Conner.

He looked up at her as she headed towards the door. "Kyra Remington," he said, looking at her.

She smiled. "That's our secret, Professor."

He smiled at her and bowed his head. "It's an honor to have you in my class."

"Thank you," she responded and walked out.

Aubree was waiting on her. "My lab partner is so hot!"

Kyra could agree with her about that. Her own lab partner, Ajax was definitely hot. She couldn't wait to see him again, though she only had lab twice a week, which was disappointing. "What's next?"

Aubree sighed. "We have a lecture."

Kyra groaned but nodded. "Let's go."
