Kya opened the door to the guest room and headed back to the bathroom, stripping off her clothes. Patience, Kyra, she told herself. Cole didn't feel the bond. She was still annoyed though that he wouldn't let her pleasure him in return. He'd been willing the other night, but today, he acted like he didn't want it at all. He'd pretty much shut her out when she'd offered and she felt confused about it. What man didn't want oral sex?

Kyra quickly showered, then dried off and dressed. She put her hair up into a braid, and put on a bit of makeup, wondering where Cole was. She thought he'd be in her room by now. Had she pissed him off? She hoped not. She didn't know him well enough to know if he was. He hadn't made it obvious at all.

A knock sounded at her door, and she hurried over and opened it.

He was standing on the other side, looking like his usual handsome self. "Hi."

"Hi," she responded, feeling a bit awkward with him now. She wasn't sure what he was thinking, or if he was upset with her or what.

"You ready for breakfast?" he asked, his gaze trailing over her.

"Yeah."

He stepped back and she walked out, closing the door behind her. She followed him downstairs and out of the packhouse. It was warm this morning, she noticed as they walked inside the cafeteria.

"Is it cold up in Pennsylvania?" Cole asked her.

"Cool. Much cooler than it is here," she said. "The humidity is gone."

He smiled his sexy smile at her. "I'm going to freeze all winter, aren't I?"

Not if you're in my bed, she linked him.

He smirked at her, making her relax. Maybe he wasn't upset.

She followed Cole over to the line, aware of eyes on her. Cole let her step in front of him, though he didn't touch her. You look beautiful this morning.

The compliment was unexpected but warmed her. Thank you. Kyra grabbed a plate and her gaze met that of the woman who was serving the meal. Her gaze was cold, as she stared at her. Kyra swallowed but didn't say anything as she moved along, quickly getting her food and noticing that every one of those that worked in the kitchen were giving her a cold, hostile look.

Apparently, Chelsea had been spreading rumors about her and Cole. She sighed as she turned to walk over to the table Cade, Gabe, Dawson and Carson were seated at, along with their mates. Clare welcomed her with a friendly smile while the other two women didn't even look up at her. She sighed and looked at Cade.

What's going on? he asked her.

I spent the night in Cole's room. We were ... she sighed again ... messing around and Chelsea walked in on us. She thinks that Cole is sleeping with me to get a position in Regal Eclipse.

Though he wasn't looking at her, she saw Cade's eyebrows shoot up and a smile cross his face. She just walked in?

It's not funny, Cade.

It kind of is though. We're leaving anyways. Is Cole ready?

Kyra looked at Cole. Are you ready to go?

Yeah, I'm ready.

He's ready, Cade.

Cade looked up at her and nodded. He pulled out his phone and sent a text. A few moments later, he received a response. "Thirty minutes. Let's finish here, grab our stuff and head for the airport so we can get out of Dodge."

"Sounds good," Cole said and smiled reassuringly at Kyra.

She gave him a small smile back and turned her attention back to her food, wondering if he was aware of what all was going on. She'd be glad when she could be alone with him and away from this pack. She sighed softly as she hurried through her meal, then stood. She needed out of the cafeteria and away from the judgmental stares.

"Meet me in the Alpha's office? We need to do the transfer," Cade reminded her.

I completely forgot about that. I've been so preoccupied with Cole, Kyra linked him.

I know. I probably should have challenged Harrison myself. Cade stood as well.

He was right. He'd done more than she had with this whole thing, but at the same time, she was glad he was willing to step up to the plate while she tried to figure out her mate situation.

The rest of the leadership stood, along with their mates, and they all headed back to the pack house. They gathered inside the Alpha's office.

Address them, Cade told her.

"I'm going to transfer power to Gabe. Once you're ready, you need to make both Dawson and Carson Betta and Gamma. If you need anything, contact either Cade or I. You can email or call us. I would like some updates and we'll both check in on you over the next several weeks," Kyra said, looking at Gabe.

Gabe nodded. "Will do, Alpha."

"Knife?"

Gabe handed her the box, and she opened it and pulled out the gleaming silver knife. He sat the box down and then placed his hand in hers. She sliced his palm, and then her own. "What's your last name?"

"Brown. Gabriel Brown."

"I, Kyra Remington, future Alpha Queen and Alpha of Macon Pack transfer the title of Alpha to Gabriel Brown of Macon Pack." She held her ground as she felt the ties cut with the pack and bit her lip.

Gabrielle bowed his head to her, and she glanced around at the others who did the same. Then she looked at Cade. She was beyond ready to go home.

"Let's grab our stuff and get out of here," Cade said with a smile.

Kyra glanced at Cole. She almost mind linked him, but then remembered that she couldn't anymore. They were no longer in the same pack. She took a small breath and followed him out of the room, then up the stairs. "Cole?"

"Yeah, Kyra?" He turned to her and gave her a smile.

"Are you okay with all of this?" She studied his face and saw the look of surprise cross it.

"Yeah. I'm perfectly fine with it," he reassured her.

"Okay, I just wanted to make sure," she said.

"Let me grab my stuff," he said, and headed down the hall.

Kyra watched him go, then pushed the door open for her own room. She hadn't even slept in there, she realized, glancing around the room. She grabbed her bag and zipped it shut, glancing around one last time to make sure she had everything, then walked back out into the hallway.

Cole appeared at that moment, walking out with two large bags. He walked over and leaned down and kissed her gently on the neck. "I'm ready, Kyra."

Her heart fluttered and she smiled at him. "Let's go."

They walked back downstairs and outside. Gabe and Clare were taking them to the airstrip and their waiting plane. Carson, Dawson and their mates were all standing out there as well.

"Keep a very close eye on your borders," Cade told them both. "Having a rogue show up to challenge is highly unusual. It's even more unusual for him to win."

Both men nodded. Kyra glanced at their mates who were both standing close together and eyeing her quietly. She wondered if they were judging her right now, but realized it really didn't matter.

They climbed inside the SUV and Gabe drove them down to the airstrip. They all piled out and grabbed their bags, then said their goodbyes.

"I'm happy for you, Cole. Have fun freezing your ass off," Gabe said with a laugh. "At least you'll have a mate now to keep you warm."

Cole frowned at him, then smiled. "I'm sure I'll be back at some point."

"Yeah, you'll be back," Cade told him with a smile. "I have a feeling we're going to be all together."

"I'm still going to be stuck with you?" Kyra grumbled.

Cade smirked at her. "You like it."

"Am I going to be refereeing you two?" Cole asked them.

"Maybe," Cade laughed. "You'll have your hands full with her though, Cole."

Cole smiled as he looked at Kyra, following her over to their plane. "She's worth it," he said softly.
