Kyra opened her eyes, wondering where Cole was. She would have thought he would have joined her by now. She stared up at the ceiling of the room for a moment, then frowned. Where was she? The ceiling was dark wood, like a cabin. Not the ceiling of Macon Pack's pack house.
The room resembled a small cabin, and she was lying on a bed. There was a small kitchen, a beat up couch, and a little table. No one was in sight. She turned her head the other way and froze. A man was laying on the bed next to her. A man that definitely wasn't Cole.
She shot up in the bed and that's when she noticed the cuff on her hand. She was chained to the bed. She sighed, staring at the man. He had long brown unkempt hair, and his face was covered in a long scraggly beard. The small part she could see was bruised pretty badly. She could barely detect the scent of werewolf on him. No pack scent. He was definitely a rogue. She immediately got off the bed as fear gripped her. Cole?
No response.
The man turned his head, taking her in. "Finally," he murmured in a hoarse voice.
"Who are you and what am I doing here?" Kyra shot a glare at him.
He eyed her quietly. "Landon." He hadn't moved, and she noticed the pain in his eyes. "I'm not sure why you're here."
"Why are you here?" She almost felt sorry for him. Almost.
"Because people are manipulative." He sighed softly.
Kyra frowned at him. "How long have you been here?"
"Not sure. Too long. I've sort of lost track of time," he said quietly.
That didn't make her feel good either. It seemed more like he was a prisoner here. Like herself. "Why haven't you left?"
"Because I don't have much strength. I've been disconnected from my wolf for quite some time," he responded.
"Wolfsbane," she muttered.
He nodded. "Which means I don't heal quickly." He lifted his shirt. His skin was pale and covered in bruises in various shades of healing. He wasn't built like a werewolf anymore. He was skin and bones. She could see his ribs poking out.
Kyra swallowed. "Have you always been a rogue?"
"No. I used to be in a pack. Before all of this. I thought maybe I'd finally died when I woke up next to a beautiful woman, but the pain is still there, and of course, you're mated." He grimaced.
"Do you know who brought me here?" Kyra asked him.
"Louis. This is his hideout. His brother used to stay here too, but some she-wolf killed him," he muttered, then smiled. "A she-wolf killed him. That's rather funny. Guy was a first rate dick head."
"Louis Steele?" Kyra asked.
Landon looked back at her. "You know him?"
"Is he the one who brought me here?" Of course.
"Probably. He's the only one in and out of here on a regular basis. His sister shows up every once in a while, but that's rare. I haven't seen her in a few months I think. I've kinda lost track of time." He sighed heavily.
"Who's his sister?" She didn't know there was a sister involved.
"Her name is Chelsea. She's a bitch. She has a thing for my brother," he muttered.
Kyra frowned as she stared at Landon. What were the chances? And was Chelsea interested in someone besides Cole? "Which pack are you from, Landon?"
"Macon Pack."
