Elwin's POV:

"Well..." Ryla said nervously. "My..... ummm... mom? Wait no! It was my great great great great grandmother? Or was it my great great great great grandfather? Or it could be my-" Elwin cut her off.

"It doesn't matter who it was... I do need to meet your mom though Ryla. Maybe she can also explain why you aren't wearing a registry pendant." Elwin said.

I don't know what Ryla is hiding...
But a girl who doesn't wear a registry pendant and can't drink elixirs is suspicious.
I should hail Mr. Forkle from the black swan and see if he can find out what's up with her.

Elwin watched Ryla carefully and she looked suspiciously nervous.

Then Elwin walked out the door of his Healing Center 2.0. It was built in Splendor Plains (his house) in case anything ever happened to Foxfire, sadly it was needed.

Where is my imparter?
I need to hail the black swan.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I feel like Ryla's hiding something big.

Elwin walked down his houses long hallway and went up two flights of stairs into his bedroom. His imparter was on his bed and he quickly grabbed it.

"Show me Mr. Forkle" he told the gadget.

The imparter ringed for a few minutes and then it stopped. "Unable to locate" flashed on the screen, meaning he was probably in the Forbidden Cities.

Darn it!
That's bad timing.
Who else could I hail?
Maybe Sophie?
She won't know as much as Mr. Forkl-

"Ring! Ring!" His imparter was ringing! Mr. Forkle was hailing him back!

Yes!

Elwin clicked "accept" and Mr. Forkle appeared on his screen.

"Is there something wrong?" Mr. Forkle asked Elwin.

"Umm... maybe? One of the girls who was in injured in the collapsing of Foxfire is acting very suspicious. I might be wrong though." Elwin told him.

"You should trust your instincts Elwin. What was suspicious about her?" He asked.

Please tell me I'm not crazy...
Please tell me he won't laugh in my face and say the girl is totally normal.

"Well, the first weird thing was that she called elixirs potions and she refused to drink them. The other weird thing I noticed was that she wasn't wearing a registry pendant and I have also never seen her before even though she's a level 3. Oh! And she was acting nervous the whole time I talked to her."

Elwin blew out a breath.

"That IS really strange that she didn't wear a registry pendant... thank you for telling me, I think you might be on to something. What is the girls name?" Mr. Forkle asked.

"Um... it was Ryla Hctiw. Her last name is really weird, and I'm not exactly sure how to spell it. Her mom also had an extremely long first name... but I forget what it was... maybe Finklewitchbelle?"

Mr. Forkle gasped. "Do you mean FinklejelaWITCHipenelabelle?" He emphasized "witch" in a weird way.

Wow...
how did he know?!

"Yes! That's her exact name! How did you know that?!" Elwin asked with wide eyes.

Mr. Forkle signed. "Elwin... what I'm about to tell you is HIGHLY classified and is not to be repeated. Do you understand?" He asked.

"Yes! You can count on me to keep any secret." Elwin replied.

"Ok... I have heard some rumors, the past few years that (including humans) there are seven intelligent species."

Elwin gasped. "WHAT?! Is Ryla not an elf?"

How?
What else could she possibly be?

"I'm not sure I have enough information to say for sure that she's not an elf." Mr. Forkle started. He took a breath and then continued. "But a few years ago I found an old letter. I found the letter in a human city and I'm not sure how it ended up there. But the letter said that the intelligent species are Humans, Trolls, Gnomes, Goblins, Ogres, Dwarfs, and........... Witches."

AHH!!!!
What even is a witch?

"That's crazy! What even is a witch though?" Elwin asked.

Mr. Forkle signed and said "Remember that I'm not 100% sure if this letter is accurate. At first I thought it was just a random letter that didn't mean anything, but then I realized that the person who wrote and signed letters name was "WITCHerapapparbeth Potionsmith, and so I assumed that she must be a witch."

I guess if the word "witch" was in her name then that would definitely make sense.
Ryla's mom's first name also has "witch" in it......

"Oh, and to answer your question Elwin, according to the letter a witch brews potions and gets ill if they drink anything else but potions, they have orange hair, ride broomsticks, and live in a very small village called Witchville." Mr. Forkle explained.

"Omg! Ryla has orange hair! She also didn't drink elixirs and only called them potions! That information tracks!" Elwin exclaimed.

"Wow! Maybe she is a witch! How could we expose her secret though, Elwin?" Mr. Forkle asked.

"Ummm... I'm not sure... maybe we could... interrogate her?" Elwin asked. "She could always just lie though, so that probably won't work."

"Wait! The letter also said that witches are terrible liars and make up bad excuses!" Mr. Forkle exclaimed.

Yes!

"Perfect! Let's interrogate Ryla like she's never been interrogated before!" Elwin shouted.

Elwin lowered his voice and told Mr. Forkle "Come to Splendor Plains in ten minutes and together, let's figure out Ryla's secret..."

Mr. Forkle agreed and then he ended the call.
