Ellery's pov:
"Hi mom." I mumbled.
She's probably so mad at me for sneaking out and
getting kidnapped... BY HUMANS!My mom ran over to me and wrapped me in a hug, so tight I thought I would explode.
"What happened to you?!" She yelled.
"Funny story." I said, backing out of the hug and looking at the ground.
I saw my mom raise an eyebrow out of the corner of my eye.
"What happened?" She asked me again, curiosity and a little bit of annoyance in her voice.
Uhhh...
"Ellery Foster!" She yelled, when I still didn't answer.
"Ok fine!" I mumbled.
I took a breath and started to explain in a way that made it sound like, maybe I shouldn't be in trouble?
"So I just wanted to practice teleporting, right? I only wanted to learn and be better so I went somewhere that would be a good place to practice. But it quickly went wrong because some humans saw me teleport and thought I was magical or something-"
"How did you lose your leaping crystal?" She asked me.
"Oh um... wait how do you know about that?" I asked.
WAIT!
I FORGOT ABOUT RYAN!!!!!!!!!!!!My mom glared at me. "This kid light leaped onto our property-"
"I CAN EXPLAIN!!!" I interrupted, even though I didn't know how I could possibly explain.
"Go on, then." My mom said, her brown eyes glaring at me and seeping into my soul.
"I dropped it?" I asked, but it sounded more like a question.
"You just dropped it?" She asked me, not believing that was the full story.
I signed and looked up at the big blue sky. Rainbows were everywhere, like always.
"I'm sorry Ellery, you can explain later. You look exhausted, come inside and have some food."
"Ok." I agreed.
What did happen to Ryan though?
I wonder if he is being held captive...
Maybe they just erased his memory.
Wait, that would be terrible...."Come on!" My mom called from inside the doorway.
I jogged over and followed my mom to the kitchen.
"Mallowmelt!!!!!" I exclaimed, looking at the delicious slices of the tasty treat on the counter.
"Oh yeah, Ke-your dad, has been making it left and right. I swear every time I leave the house he's in the kitchen.", my mom explained.
I sat down at the counter and quickly gobbled up a slice. My stomach growled for more.
Huh, I didn't realize how hungry I was.
"Now, can you finish explaining?" My mom asked.
"Oh, uh sure." I mumbled with my mouth full of food.
"So I was walking through the woods, and I dropped my leaping crystal-wait no, I tripped and it fell down a river-"
"That seems unlikely..." my mom said.
Ugh, I give up.
"Never mind, I'm just glad you're safe." My mom said happily.
"Me too."
