Ellery's POV:

Me and my parents were shocked to see Ryla flying into the sunset on her broomstick. How did she even grab that?

"Where is she hiding?!" Sandor shouted running into the room.

"She jumped off the balcony and flew away..." I answered.

"Coward!" Sandor yelled. Clearly satisfied with her running away and 'cowering.'

"Try and be easy on her, Sandor." My dad said as Ryla faded from sight. "She's just a young girl. Witch."

"I'll try. She's making my job impossible though! I will have to tell the council about this... and they will NOT be happy to hear that Ryla's running away and abandoning her supervisor." Sandor signed and left the room. He slammed the door so hard that the wall shook.

"You should get some sleep Ellery. It's Saturday tomorrow and maybe we can practice teleporting together!" My mom exclaimed.

"Sure! Sounds great!" I said as my parents left my bedroom. I went to the bathroom and took a long steaming shower then changed into my favorite alicorn pajamas. Then I looked out the window and noticed how dark it was.

"Hoo!"

"Hoot!"

Ugh there must be an owl outside. I closed the window and got into my large bed. I decided to sleep with three blankets because it was surprisingly cold in my room tonight. I closed my eyes and thought about what it would be like teleporting with my mom tomorrow...

I woke up to an annoying loud alarm.

"BEEP!"

"BEEP!"

"BEEP!"

"Ugh... I'm awake!" I mumbled, getting out of bed.

"Ellery! Are you awake?!" I heard a voice ask from downstairs.

"Barely!" I replied.

I changed into a light blue tunic and black pants and then stared at my reflection in the mirror.

"What about my hair?!"

I signed and started (trying) to brush my messy blond hair. Then I put my hair into a ponytail and ran downstairs. I saw my parents eating breakfast in the kitchen and talking about something. No. Not talking. Whispering. They didn't seem to notice me so I tired to ease drop.

"Teleporting.......... pretty dangerous though... maybe you............ practice...... tomorrow.... remember the... issue? Also......." I was trying to listen but I could only make out bits and pieces. I took another step but the floorboard made a loud noise.

*Creek!*

Right as my parents turned their heads towards the noice I started running down the hall. Pretending I wasn't hiding and ease dropping.

"Hi mom! Hi dad!" I yelled, sitting at the table in front of a bowl of..... soup?

"What's this?!" I asked.

"It's called.... uhhhh.... Ginsjskaokenenhdejaiaooapaiisjbdo.... soup!" My dad replied.

"Interesting name...... doesn't matter though!" I gulped down the whole bowl. "Hurry up mom!!!! I want to practice teleporting!!!!!!" As soon as I said teleporting my parents both flinched.

"About that...." My mom said with the look that parents give you before giving bad news. "I think we should practice.... a safer version of teleporting before we go running of cliffs like crazy people."

Now I'm confused....

"I thought... last night you seemed excited to practice with me!!!"

"I know... but..." my mom looked at my dad. "We think you should start safer."

"Safer how?" I asked.

"Well..." my mom seemed like she was at a loss of words. Which was not normal. "First of all... no teleporting with other people until you have NAILED your landings."

"Ok then..."

"And only teleport.... like... twice a day so you don't run out of energy!"

"Fair..."

"And also-"

I interrupted my mom's crazy safety lecture before she said something ridiculous. "I'll be fine mom! Don't worry so much. What could go wrong?!" My parents flinched again and this time I could tell that they were hiding something...

"What are you hiding?" I asked them, with a look that hopefully said 'you better answer that'.

"Ummm...." My dad said while looking at my mom. "Something did happen..."

"What h-happened?" I asked nervously.

"One time I was teleporting..." my mom looked at my dad nervously. "And I got stuck in the void for a week. I luckily had food and water in my backpack..."

Oh....
I didn't know you could even get stuck in the void. Endless, infinite, darkness...

My mom let that settle in and then said something even scarier. "One time... I was teleporting at the same time as one of the alicorns and.... when my thunder boomed and opened the sky it blasted the alicorn out of the sky. And gave its wings permanent damage."
