Narcissa Malfoy cradled the infant in her arms, the warmth from the manor's hearths slowly thawing the chill from their bodies. She looked down at the small, delicate face, her heart swelling with an unfamiliar but fierce protectiveness. The baby stirred, clutching the edge of the fur blanket, and Narcissa noticed a glint of silver. She gently moved the blanket aside, revealing a fine chain around the child's neck. A small pendant, engraved with the name "Lyanna," lay against the baby's chest.

"Lyanna," Narcissa whispered, the name rolling off her tongue with a certain elegance. She smiled softly, brushing a stray lock of white hair from the baby's face.

The sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway, and Narcissa turned to see her husband, Lucius, approaching. His expression darkened as he took in the scene before him. "What is the meaning of this, Narcissa?" he demanded, his voice cold and sharp.

"Someone left her on our doorstep, Lucius," Narcissa replied, her voice calm but firm. "She was alone, abandoned in the snow. We cannot simply turn her away."

Lucius frowned, his eyes narrowing. "This is not our concern. We cannot afford to be burdened by a foundling."

Narcissa's eyes flashed with determination. "She is not a burden. She is a child, and she needs us. I have decided to take her in. Her name is Lyanna." She held Lucius's gaze, challenging him to argue further.

Lucius sighed, knowing when his wife had made up her mind. "Very well," he conceded reluctantly. "But this decision will not be without consequences."

Over time, Lyanna became an integral part of the Malfoy household. Raised alongside Draco, who was only a year older, she quickly adapted to her new family. The two children were inseparable, forming a bond that was as strong as if they were true siblings. Draco, with his white-blond hair and sharp features, and Lyanna, with her striking purple eyes and equally pale hair, were often mistaken for twins. Narcissa reveled in their connection, taking pride in how naturally they complemented each other.

Society at large rarely questioned Lyanna's sudden appearance. The Malfoy family's reputation for privacy and control over their personal affairs meant that few dared to pry. When curiosity did arise, most accepted the explanation that Narcissa had concealed a second pregnancy to shield the child from potential threats. The resemblance between Lyanna and the rest of the family lent credibility to this narrative, and whispers of scandal soon died down.

Years passed, and the Malfoy children grew, their bond only deepening with time. Draco, ever the protective older brother, often found himself defending Lyanna from teasing or suspicion, their closeness a source of strength for both. Lyanna, in turn, admired Draco's confidence and resolve, learning much from his example.

Under Narcissa's watchful eye, Lyanna thrived. The sense of belonging she found in the Malfoy household filled the void left by her mysterious origins. Yet, despite the love and care she received, Lyanna often felt a lingering sense of otherness, a quiet whisper of the unknown that tugged at her heart.

Narcissa never forgot the night Lyanna arrived. She often wondered about the mysterious woman with the copper hair, the secrets that shrouded Lyanna's birth. But as she watched Lyanna and Draco play in the manor's gardens, she was grateful for the chance to give Lyanna a home, a family, and a future.

Little did they know, the answers to Lyanna's past would come in time, entwining her destiny with the fate of both the wizarding and non-wizarding worlds. For now, she was a Malfoy, and that was enough.
