Later that night, the Ravenclaw common room buzzed with an uneasy energy as students gathered, whispering among themselves. Lyanna sat in a corner with Lisa, Parvati, and a few other friends, trying to focus on a book but unable to shake off the tension in the air. Suddenly, the door swung open, and a sixth-year Prefect entered, his face pale and eyes wide with shock.
"Everyone, listen up," he called out, his voice trembling slightly. "We just received some terrible news. Barty Crouch has been found dead."
A collective gasp rippled through the room, and the students exchanged horrified glances. Lyanna's heart sank. Barty Crouch, a high-ranking Ministry official, dead? It felt like a dark cloud had descended over Hogwarts.
Without wasting any time, Lyanna excused herself from her friends and hurried to her dormitory. She sat at her desk, pulling out a quill and parchment, and quickly penned a letter to her parents at Malfoy Manor. She needed to inform them of this development, hoping they might have some insight or advice.
"Dear Mother and Father,
I hope this letter finds you well. I must inform you of some disturbing news we received tonight. Barty Crouch has been found dead. The circumstances are unclear, but it has sent a wave of fear through the school.
Please advise on how I should proceed. I can't help but feel that something much darker is at play here. I know where Father's loyalties used to lie, and I believe he could still change, but the mysterious happenings and that late-night guest at the manor make me fear that we are all pawns in a dangerous game.
With love, Lyanna"
She sealed the letter and rushed to the Owlery, choosing a swift and reliable owl to deliver her message. As she watched the bird disappear into the night, a sense of dread settled in her chest.
Hours later, Lyanna received a reply. Her father's familiar handwriting was precise and firm.
"Dear Lyanna,
Do not concern yourself with Barty Crouch's death. It is a Ministry matter and will be handled as such. Focus on your studies and the Tournament. Keep yourself safe.
Regards, Father"
Lyanna read the letter over and over, the words "Ministry matter" echoing ominously in her mind. She knew her father too well to be reassured by such a curt dismissal. Something much worse was brewing, she was certain of it. The mysterious guest at their manor, the cryptic warning from her father before the Second Task—it all pointed to a larger, more sinister plot.
Returning to the common room, Lyanna tried to join in the conversations, but her mind was elsewhere. She couldn't help but feel like a pawn in a grand and dangerous game, one that she didn't fully understand yet. She glanced around at her friends, their faces filled with worry and confusion. How could she protect them? How could she protect herself?
Lyanna knew she had to stay vigilant. She had to be ready for whatever came next, whether it was another challenge in the Triwizard Tournament or something far darker. As she sat among her fellow Ravenclaws, the weight of responsibility pressed heavily on her shoulders.
Days after the dreadful news of Barty Crouch's death, a palpable sense of fear and unease hung over Hogwarts. The once lively and vibrant atmosphere had become subdued, and students moved through the halls with wary glances and hushed voices. The knowledge that Crouch's killer was still at large, and possibly within the castle's walls, weighed heavily on everyone's minds.
Lyanna couldn't shake the feeling of dread that had settled in her chest. She was on high alert, constantly watching for anything out of the ordinary. Even the routine of classes and homework felt different, shadowed by the uncertainty of what might happen next.
