"Why wasn't friendship as good as a relationship? Why wasn't it even better? It was two people who remained together, day after day, bound not by sex or physical attraction or money or children or property, but only by the shared agreement to keep going, the mutual dedication to a union that could never be codified."

THIRD PERSON POV

Harry went towards his room after collecting his belongings. He then stood in front of room no. 10. Was it room 11 or 10? He kept standing in front of the gate and staring it for 10 minutes and then taking his decision.

"It was eleven wasn't it?" James muttered to himself.

He knocked on the door and waited for a while, a minute passed but the door didn't open, he knocked again to make sure if the room was free or not, and the door this time opened within seconds, but the sight in front of him made Harry drop his wands and laugh loudly.

There was Adalyn Scamander standing with half-closed eyes, and messy hair, loosely pointing the wand at him. "why are you laughing" She said lowering her wand, recognizing that he was no threat. But this led Harry to laugh more loudly. She understood why, so cleared her throat and dragged the laughing boy inside, and closed the door.

"Ooh it's her, she's also staying there" Sirius whispered nodding his head.

"If you continue laughing like this, you are gonna wake the whole pub," She said crossing her arms.

Harry struggled to stifle his laughter, wiping away tears from his eyes as he regained his composure. "I'm sorry, Adalyn," he managed to say between chuckles.

"This is the second time you've done it" Adalyn grumbled flopping on her bed. "Second? Oh wait your Christmas present" Harry snickered taking a seat beside her. "Now can you please enlighten me what were you doing here knocking on my door at this ungodly hour" She inquired turning to face him.

Harry then stated the whole events that folded that night, to which she listened with wide eyes and agape mouth. "I-I can't believe you blew up your aunt" She laughed loudly. "I wish I was there to witness it," She said wiping her tears.

"It was, to be honest, magnificent, it should have been recorded somehow" Remus whispered excitedly imagining the scene.

"Now, what are you doing here staying in the pub?" Harry asked raising his brows. The smile on Adalyn's face dropped and she visibly stiffened. "I just -

"And don't you dare lie to me," Harry said. Adalyn gulped and turned away from him, then sighed and decided she can't always hide her family matter now can she?

"She should just tell the truth at this point" James said shaking his head.

"Umm, so basically, actually, it's like, so" Adalyn fumbled with her words. Harry rolled his eyes and remarked, "Can you move on from actually, basically?".

"I don't have parents," Adalyn said fastly. "UM, what?" He asked in confusion. "I mean, they weren't my real parents, I had the doubt from some time before, but when I confronted them, they like beat me a little and then finally said that yea 'we aren't your parents, but be grateful that we have given you a loving home' and blah blah, and then I couldn't take it anymore, they usually ignored me all the time, if i did even a small mistake, I would be grounded without food for two or three days and other shit, so I decided to finally leave that hell hole" She finished shrugging, she didn't lie about her home, but the torture and everyday beating part wasn't necessary right?
