First Day of School Part 2

I tore up the test and threw it at her before walking out. I was walking around school when I heard someone playing piano in the music room. I walked in and it was Brandon. I just stood listening until he noticed me.
Jaylen: you're good
Brandon: you play any instruments?
Jaylen: drum and guitar. I haven't played for a while tho
Brandon: really
Jaylen: yeah look
I sat at the drum kit and started playing. I finished and Brandon looked amazed
Brandon: wow. How do you know how to play like that?
Jaylen: when I was younger I used to drum for my church
Brandon: you go to church?
Jaylen: not really anymore I used to go every Sunday
Brandon: why did you stop?
Jaylen: when my parents died I was angry with god and I felt lost. How could he take my parents who were good people and murderers get to live their lives? So I stopped going and haven't been back since.
Brandon: wait shouldn't you be in lesson?
Jaylen: I walked out but it's fine
Brandon: you should go talk to mama
Jaylen: no one can help me so what's the point. I'm in this on my own

Brandon pov
Brandon: mama can help you. She can talk to your teachers. She can get you out of trouble. She gets Jesus out of trouble all the time
Jaylen: no I can't trust anyone here I don't know you and you don't know me. Why would you help lot self time?
I just looked at him confused. He was just staring blankly and his eyebrow was twitching. After a few seconds he started speaking again
Jaylen: why would you lot help me you don't know me?
Brandon: you're family now. I really think you should speak to mama
Jaylen: no it's fine. I'm used to it

Jaylen pov
Brandon: let me walk you to your next lesson
Jaylen: the bell hasn't even gone yet
Brandon: well you can be early then. what have you got?
Jaylen: PE
We walked to the changing room and Brandon left. I got changed for pe and went into the field
Coach: right we're gonna have a game of soccer
We got into two teams and we started. I was a striker and we started playing. 30 minutes in and I had already scored 5 goals. It was now a corner and as the ball came into the box, I jumped up in the air and someone flipped me over. I landed awkwardly on my arm and I heard a crack.
Jaylen: ahhh shit! ahhh
Coach ran over

Lena pov
I was in a meeting with the governors when Henry ran in
Lena: Henry you can't just run in. What happened to knocking?
Henry: I'm sorry but we need an ambulance
Lena: what happened?
Henry: there's a broken arm on the soccer field
Lena: who is it?
Henry: Jaylen
Lena: am I still needed in this meeting?
??: it's fine you're needed somewhere else
Lena: thank you. Monte is it okay if I leave for the rest of the day
Monte: that's fine
I called an ambulance and then ran to the soccer field. Jaylen was on the floor holding his arm. All the other students had gone.
Coach: Jaylen take some deep breaths okay.
Jaylen: It really hurts
Coach: I know kid but I need you to take deep breaths
I ran over to Jaylen. His arm was covered with a sweatshirt. I looked at his arm and his bone was sticking out
Lena: what happened?
Coach: he fell weirdly on it
Lena: okay ambulance had been called. How you feeling Jaylen?
Jaylen: it really hurts and I feel dizzy
After a few minutes the ambulance crew arrived. They checked his vitals first and then looked at his arm. Jaylen looked down and immediately his face went pale and he passed out. They put his arm in a sling and put him in the ambulance. I rode in the back with them. On the way Jaylen woke up
??: hey I'm Tommy how you feeling?
Jaylen: it really hurts
Tommy injected some pain killers and a sedative and Jaylen began to relax
Tommy: so how did this happen?
Jaylen: soccer
Tommy: how?
Jaylen: I was in the air for a corner and someone flipped me over and I landed on my arm.
Tommy: this your first broken bone?
Jaylen: nope. I've broken my hands, arms, feet and legs.
Tommy: so you know the drill
Jaylen: yep
We arrived at the hospital and Jaylen was taken straight to Xray
I got my phone out and called stef

Stef: hey is everything okay?
Lena: I'm in the hospital with Jaylen
Stef: he okay?
Lena: broke his arm during pe
Stef: okay. I'll be down after work
Lena: can you ring Brandon for me and tell him that he doesn't have to wait for Jaylen?
Stef: yeah that's fine

I sat in the waiting room. After a while Jaylen was brought back in
Dr G: so I've had a look at his xray and it is a ulna and radius fracture. It is quite a complex break so what we'll have to do is perform surgery.
Lena: can't you just realign the bones?
Dr G: no. If you look at his xray here you can see how severe the break is
Lena: so what are you gonna do in surgery?
Dr G: we're gonna align the break using metal plates and screws. He won't be allowed to put weight on it for 6 weeks after the surgery
Lena: okay. When's the surgery?
Dr G: I just need you to sign the consent form and he'll be taken up within the next hour
I signed the form and now we just wait. After about 10 minutes he started to wake up
Jaylen: oww
He started crying in pain. A doctor came in.
Doctor: we're gonna take him up where he will then be put under
They took him up and he few hours later they brought him back down
Dr G: the surgery went well. We've placed it in a splint and when the swelling goes down we'll then place it in a cast. He can go home when he wakes up.
