(Speech is from an officer funeral I found on YouTube)

We got to the service and sat down. Mom and dad's favourite song was playing. When it finished Father Michaels got ready to speak.
Father Michaels: would you stand with me whilst we pray?
We all stood up
Father Michaels: in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit Heavenly Father we thank you that you are the present help in the time of need in our darkest hours you're always there. You're the most important person in the universe and yet in the midnight hour when we hurt you're there and today as we unite together to celebrate the homegoing of a man and women who is a hero not only to their family but also to our community. We honor you and we thank you that their faith and their hope and their anchor was secure in their lord and saviour Jesus Christ and we thank you that when they took their last breath the next face they saw was yours. Today we are not as those who do not have a hope today we are not as those who are afraid in this moment for our anchor and our hope is sure. It is in our God our saviour Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who dwells within us and ushers us straight into the arms of our father. Today Lord may we make heaven and seious happy as we celebrate the gift of their life and we ask all this in the mighty powerful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and everyone said together amen.
All: amen
Father Michaels: you may be seated
We all sat down. I turned to Kelly
Jaylen: Kelly I need to go outside
Kelly: after father Michaels has finished
Jaylen: okay
Father Michaels: Welcome to our saviour's church. I'm Father Joseph Michaels. Senior father here at our saviour's church and we are so blessed to have you here. We're so blessed because the Evans made a plan for you to be here a long time ago when they gave their life to Jesus Christ he decided where this would end. Today I want to read a promise from the word of his. It is impossible for god to lie for we know that his promise and his vow never changes and now we have run into his heart to hide ourselves in his faithfulness. This is where we find his strength, his comfort for he empowers us to seize what he has already established ahead of time an unshakable hope we have this certain hope like a strong unbreakable anchor holding our souls to god himself our anchor of hope is fastened to his mercy seat which sits in the heavenly realm beyond us in his sacred threshold where Jesus or forerunner is gone in before us and he is now and forever our priest. Father today we thank you if that's where they are. We thank you that they're there with that unmistakeable unshakable hope and today as we celebrate we do not celebrate as those who do not have a hope but we thank you that life is a temporary thing but there is an eternal purpose for every child of God and we thank you that they just knew that in Jesus name and everyone said and now I would like to welcome to come and honor the Evans. The sergeant of the 21st District Hank Voight
Hank got up and started speaking.

I got up and walked out. I sat on the church steps just throwing stones.
??: talk to me Jaylen
Kelly sat beside me
Jaylen: I can't do it. I can't say goodbye. They didn't deserve to die. They gave everything to their job.
Kelly: I know kiddo. I know
Jaylen: I wanna go home
Kelly: Jays about to speak. Do you wanna go in and listen?
I just shrugged my shoulders
Kelly: I'll be with you every step of the way
We walked back in and I sat next to Kelly.
Jay: they took me in when it was rough at home. That's just who they were. They were caring and they showed me what it was like to have a loving family. Donte and Camilla treated me like their own. They included me in family traditions and holidays and Jaylen became my little brother. We worked at the same district and they were very protective and they gave everything. They were the first to arrive and the last to leave. They dedicated their lives to being the best detectives the state of Illinois had ever seen and we were lucky to have them and call them our team. Over at the 21st district we're not just colleagues we're a family. Today we come together to celebrate the life of Donte and Camilla and the mark they have left.
I got up and stood next to Jay.
Jaylen: No one can ever be fully prepared to lose a loved one. These last few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster. Denial, anger, shock, confusion and sadness. Searching for a reason within the chaos and constantly asking myself why, asking God why. Why did he have to take my parents away? Why did he have to take them so soon? Yet there are no answers. Everyday I wake up hoping I have escaped my nightmare and that it was all a dream. I wake up hoping to hear the voices of mom and dad. I wake up hoping to see them sitting at the kitchen table laughing and joking. But instead I wake up to my world falling apart. I wake up to a world where mom and dad are no longer here. I would do anything to spend at least one more day with them. I'd make sure to hold them tight and tell them how much I loved them. Mama, dad if you can hear me now I want you to know that I love you both so much and I wish I had told you that more often. Life isn't going to be the same without you but time isn't gonna stop. I need to keep going. The difference being I'm gonna do everything for you. I will try my best at school. I will continue to make you proud as you cheer me on from up above. I don't want you to worry about me I'll be okay. We all miss you more than anything and you will always have part of my heart and I am forever proud to be called your son and I am proud to call you my parents, my heroes, my guardian angels. I know you loved it when I would sing so I'm gonna sing for you one last time. The band behind me started playing

Now I've heard there was a secret chord, that David played and it pleased the lord
But you don't really care for music do ya?
It goes like this the forth the fitch
The minor falls and the major lifts
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well, really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light in every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Everyone started clapping and I sat back down and the band started playing another song
