Moving day

The next morning
My bags were already packed and downstairs. Jay and kelly had only packed what I needed and left the things that I don't use or wear. I took my meds and put them in my bag. Kelly and Jay were making breakfast
Kelly: hey kiddo
Jaylen: hi
Kelly: full English breakfast coming up
Jaylen: thanks
Kelly passed me a plate and I ate my breakfast
Jaylen: so when's bill coming?
Jay: about 11:30
Jaylen: that's in about 2 hours
Jay: I know but bill wants to get you to the fosters before dinner so you can get settled in
Kelly: you wanna go to the mall?
Jaylen: can I get some new shoes?
Kelly: let me guess those Travis 1s?
Jaylen: yep
Kelly: get your shoes on then we'll go
We went to the mall and Jay bought me the shoes. We went to a few different stores and also got lunch. We got home and Bill was waiting outside. I just walked into the house without saying anything to Bill. I got my boxes and started putting it in his car.
Bill: how we feeling today Jaylen?
I just stared at him and rolled my eyes.
Jay: don't be rude
Jaylen: shut up Jay
I grabbed my AirPods and phone and I was ready to go. Kelly and Jay gave me a hug.
Kelly: I'll be expecting a call everyday okay
Jay: I'll keep you updated about the funeral okay
Jaylen: mhm
I got into the car and Bill started driving.
Bill: so you looking forward to it?
I just ignored it
Bill: you're not up for speaking?
I shook my head. I put my AirPods in and turned up my music. We reached the airport and Bill gave one of the workers all my boxes. There were only like 3 because stef and Lena said that they'll but me some clothes and things. We got into the plane and the flight started.

A few hours later we had arrived and Bill woke me up. We grabbed my boxes and bill had ordered an Uber. The Uber arrived and Bill put my boxes in the boot. We arrived at the fosters and Lena welcomed us in.
Lena: hi Jaylen
I didn't answer and she looked over to Bill who just shrugged.
Lena: so none of the kids are here yet so you have a bit of time to settle in. I'll take your boxes up.
Lena left leaving just me and Bill.
Bill: I know the move is overwhelming but just give it some time okay.
I just went outside and sat by the tree. After a while Lena came outside and sat beside me.
Lena: we want to try and make this as easy as possible for you okay? But we can't do that unless you talk to us. I know it's gonna be hard to trust us but just know we're here for you okay
I just nodded.
Lena: do you want me to leave?
I shook my head. I don't know why but I felt safe with Lena. I felt like she understood me. We just sat in a comfortable silence until I spoke up
Jaylen: I'm sorry for being rude. I didn't mean to.
Lena: I know everything is overwhelming but I want you to trust us. I want you to feel part of the family. You wanna help me prepare dinner?
Jaylen: what are you making?
Lena: I'm not sure yet something with chicken
Jaylen: how about jerk chicken and rice?
Lena: I don't really know how to make jerk chicken
Jaylen: I'll show you
We walked into the kitchen and I grabbed all the ingredients I needed for the marinade. I washed my hands and started making the jerk seasoning. After I had bathed the chicken in it I left the chicken in a bowl and put in the fridge.
Jaylen: when you're ready to cook just put it in the oven
Lena: that way pretty easy. How did you know how to make it?
Jaylen: my dad used to make it all the time and grandma taught me when I was like 8
We were cleaning up when stef walked in
Stef: hi Jaylen. Sorry I wasn't here when you arrived
I just nodded. I don't know why but i put my walls up again
Lena: did you bring your meds with you?
I just nodded again
Lena: why don't you start putting your stuff away? I'll be up to help you in a second
I went upstairs

Lena pov
I noticed how his whole demeanour changed when stef walked in.
Stef: what was that about?
Lena: I have no idea. He was the same for me. Bill said he'll check in frequently to see how jaylens getting on
Stef: we need to get him registered at the doctors for his prescriptions
Lena: I'll sort it when I take Jesus to his appointment tomorrow
The kids started arriving home from school. Brandon normally drives everyone home. Everyone walked through the door
Lena: hey guys
all: hi mama
Lena: so how was school?
Jude: it was good
Brandon: average
Callie: boring
Mariana: Jesus got detention for tomorrow
Lena: Jesus
Jesus: I walked out of my test
Lena: guys can you give us a minute?
Everyone left leaving me, Jesus and Stef
Stef: what's going on bud?
Jesus: I couldn't concentrate and I couldn't understand it. I really did try I promise
Stef: it's okay bud. You have your review tomorrow so we'll see if we can get your dose increased okay
Jesus: mhm
We carried on talking until we heard a thud.
Lena: is everything okay up there?
No one answered. Me and stef went upstairs and checked the rooms. Everyone was fine until I walked into Brandon and Jaylens room and Jaylen was on the floor seizing.
Lena: okay
After a few seconds he stopped seizing and I put him onto his side. Brandon walked in and just sat on his bed.
Stef: B if you ever see him having a seizure make sure you get one of us okay. I'll tell the others as well.
Jaylen: urgh
He tried to sit up so I helped him up
Stef: how you feeling?
Jaylen: fine
He got up and started walking away. He went into the bathroom. He walked back into the room and laid in his bed.
Lena: we'll call you down when dinner is ready okay
No answer. I looked over to him and he had already fallen asleep.
Stef: B can you come downstairs? Bring everyone else down as well please
Brandon: sure
We walked out and went downstairs. I took the chicken out of the fridge and put it in the oven. After about 10 minutes I put the rice on
Jesus: mama you wanted us down here

I walked into the living room and they were sat on the couch and stef was standing.
Lena: so I know we haven't talked about this but you need to know what to do in certain situations.
Jesus: like?
Brandon: jaylens seizures?
Stef: yep
Lena: Jaylen suffers from epilepsy which causes seizures. The two main ones he has are absence seizures where he'll just stare into space and he won't respond. The second one is the more scary one. These are called tonic clonic seizures. Jaylen will drop to the floor and start shaking. It is important that you get one of us when this happens.
Stef: if we aren't around or it happens at school for example, I need you all to know what to do. If it happens don't hold him down or move him. Move any harmful objects away. Don't put anything in his mouth as well
Lena: if you ever see him having a seizure then start a timer. Place something soft under his head. It can be a cushion or a hoodie, anything. Once the seizure stops turn him into the recovery position.
Brandon: so we don't have to call for an ambulance?
Lena: only if it lasts more than 5 minutes, he has back to back seizures or he hurts himself
Stef was talking whilst I went and checked on dinner. Dinner was ready so I started plating it and placing it on the table.
Stef: Jesus can you go and wake Jaylen please?
Everyone sat down and Jaylen and Jesus walked in. We ate dinner then went to bed
