Conflict at the district

The next day
I was getting ready for shift when Jaylen came down the stairs.
Kelly: morning
Jaylen: mhm
Kelly: what's up?
Jaylen: nothing
We ate breakfast and I gave him his meds. He went to get ready and we made our way to the district
Jaylen: Kelly
Kelly: yeah
Jaylen: I feel weird
Kelly: what do you mean?
Jaylen: it feels like nothings real. It feels like I'm watching in third person
Kelly: seizure?
Jaylen: I don't know maybe. We'll see I guess
Kelly: okay warn Jay when you get in
We arrived at the district
Kelly: I'll see you later kid

Jaylen pov
I was at the district because Kelly had shift and Jays only doing paperwork today.
Jay: hey kiddo
Jaylen: hi. Kelly told me to warn you that I might have seizures today
Jay: how do you know?
Jaylen: i feel weird and spacey
Jay: okay. You taken your meds?
Jaylen: mhm
Jay: you wanna go to the break room?
Jaylen: can I clear dad and mamas desk first?
Jay: you sure
I just nodded my head. I went to dads desk and picked up the photos and the random stuff in his  drawers I did the same for mamas. I took the box in the break room and took out a picture and just stared at it. It was a picture of us at paintballing. I remember this day so well. I had just won a soccer tournament and got 3 trophies for best player, top goal scorer and player of the tournament. Dad and mama were so proud. I'd never forget the look on their faces. For celebration, we went paint balling. There was a few of us: mama, dad, me, soccer team, Jay, Kelly, Matt, Will, Erin, April and Hank. It was such a fun day.

I was zoned out that I didn't realise anyone walk in.
Hank: hey kiddo
Jaylen: hmm
Hank: can we talk?
Jaylen: I don't care what you have to say
Hank: just give me 5 minutes okay. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that those incompetent officers were put on the detail. I should have done it myself or got someone from intelligence to do it. I'm sorry that I'm the reason that you don't have parents anymore. I'm sorry that I didn't protect you. I want you to believe me that these decisions that I made will haunt me for the rest of my life. I miss you kiddo
Jaylen: as they should. They gave their life to this place. They missed my games to be here. They missed most of my life because they would rather be here. After everything they gave this place, the least they deserved was protection.
Hank: I really am sorry. I promised them that if anything happened to them the whole unit will always be there for you and you'd always feel safe and loved.
Jaylen: I'll never forgive you. I fucking hate you. It should've been you
I stormed out slamming the door behind me.
Kevin: Jaylen?
Jaylen: fuck off
Adam: you should watch your mouth. Your parents obviously didn't do a good job raising you did they?
Jaylen: what?
Kevin: Ruz man that's not cool
Adam: you have no respect. I bet they're not much better than you. Apple didn't fall far from the tree did it?
Jaylen: you don't know what the fuck you're talking about?
Kevin must've said something to Erin cause she got up and left. I squared up to him and Kevin pulled me back
Adam: I heard your dad had a bit of a temper too. He was always like a bomb ready to go off. I guess he pissed off the wrong person and got what he deserved.
I kneed Kevin in the groin and started punching Adam.
Jay: that's enough
Jay pulled me off and took me outside
Jaylen: I'm gonna fucking kill him
Jay: Jaylen calm
Jaylen: No
Jay: Jaylen you need to calm down. You wanna go to the batting cages?
Jaylen: n-no i home high

Jay pov
Jaylen was just staring into space. His eyes were blinking rapidly and his face was lightly twitching. After a few seconds he came round again
Jay: what happened in there?
Jaylen: nothing
Jay: so if I ask Hank he'll say the same thing?
Jaylen: just leave it jay. Have you heard from bill?
Jay: he wants to speak to you today. He's gonna be here in a few hours
Jaylen: oh okay. Can we go back inside I'm cold?
Jay: you gonna behave?
Jaylen: of course. I always behave
Jay: I want you to stay in the breakroom okay
I sat in there a while until I got bored. I went out to Jay.
Jaylen: Jay I'm bored
Jay: there's not much we can do. Bill will be here soon. Go see if Trudy has anything for you to do
I went downstairs
Jaylen: Trudy you got anything for me to do?
Trudy: I've got some files that need sorting into alphabetical order
Jaylen: I feel like we're forgetting that I'm dyslexic
Trudy: I know you are. I printed out the alphabet for you so just follow it.
Jaylen: okay
It took me hours just to get through about 25 files. It took me longer to work out the order than it did to file them
??: hi I'm Bill. Here to speak to Jaylen Evans
Trudy: why do you wanna speak to him?
Bill: I'm his social worker
Jaylen: hi Bill. Can Jay come with?
Bill: sure
I went up to the bullpen and went over to Jay.
Jaylen: Bills here
Jay: let's go to the breakroom

We went to the breakroom and sat down
Bill: I'm sorry to hear about your parents
Jaylen: thanks
Bill: you're not gonna like the news but it's in your best interest. So as I already told Jay there are no foster families around that want to or can take you.
Jaylen: seriously?
Jay: so what's gonna happen?
Bill: there's a foster family in San Diego that are willing to take Jaylen. I personally think that this is the right place for him. They have a son with adhd but it's controlled with medication and not as severe as Jaylens
Jaylen: what are they like?
Bill: well stef is a police officer and Lena is a vice principal of Anchor Beach. They have 5 kids. Brandon, Callie, Jesus, Mariana and Jude. You'll know more about them when you meet them.
Jay: do they know about his conditions?
Bill: yes it's in his file but I also made sure that I told them to make sure they were fully aware.
Jay: are we arranging a visit or is he going straight away?
Bill: because of his struggle to process emotions and change, i think it's best if he meets them and has a tour of the school so he knows before hand what it is going to be like. I feel like this way he can process what the change will be.
Jaylen: when?
Bill: this weekend?
Jay: sure that works. Can me and kelly go too?
Bill: sure. They are a nice family and I think that it will do Jaylen a whole lot of good.
Jaylen: would I still be able to see everyone here?
Bill: I don't see why not. I should get going but I'll be in touch
Jay: bye

Jays pov
After Bill left Jaylen was just zoned out.
Jay: Jaylen
Jaylen: mhm
Jay: talk to me
Jaylen: it's nothing
Jay: come on kid. I don't want you to bottle everything up. What's on your mind kiddo?
Jaylen: it's just. It's just I'm scared
Jay: what are you scared of?
Jaylen: it's stupid
Jay: you know I'll always listen to what you have to say
Jaylen: what if I enjoy it there? What if I enjoy living with them? I feel like I'd be disrespecting dad and mama. Won't they be disappointed in me?
Jay: of course not. They would want you to be happy and live your life. They would be so proud of you.
Jaylen: I guess. Can we have chicken and rice?
Jay: sure
We went home had dinner and went to bed
