jaylen pov
i woke up and jay was carrying me. I looked around and I was tryna work out where I was
Kelly: we're at home
Jaylen: oh okay
Jay put me down on the sofa and I just laid there.
Jaylen: would I be able to call you?
Jay: huh?
Jaylen: when I move
Jay: of course. We'll see you in the holidays and we'll talk everyday
Jaylen: do you think mom and dad would hate me for going to a new family?
Jay: of course not they'd be happy for you
Kelly's phone started ringing and he went into the kitchen. I looked over and I could see his eyes watering
Jaylen: it's bill isn't it?
Kelly walked in
Kelly: The fostering papers went through Bill's gonna pick you up in the morning
Jaylen: what!?
Jay: is he being fucking serious?
I ran up to my room and slammed the door. After a few minutes I could hear Jay arguing with kelly. I went and sat on the top step so I could hear everything.
Jay: but that's not fair on him. He has less than a day to say bye to everyone, get his things packed and prepare himself. This is gonna end badly and you know it is.
Kelly: there's nothing we can do. If we refuse then cpd will come and remove him from the house.
Jay: I don't care. He needs more than 24 hours to get his head round it.
Kelly: Jay
Jay: fuck off
I heard the front door slam shut.
I walked downstairs and sat beside Kelly
Jaylen: do I really have to go so soon
Kelly: I'm sorry kiddo we have no control. It's out of our hands
Jaylen: I'm scared kelly
Kelly: I know but everything will be okay
Jaylen: seeing as this is my last night can we get takeout and have a movie night?
Kelly: sure kiddo
I went up to my room and just played my PlayStation. I had my headset on and I was playing an online game against others. Hours went by and I was playing until I was interrupted by a knock on the door
Jay: Jaylen
Jaylen: go away Jay
Jay: come downstairs
Jaylen: no
Jay: Downstairs!
I walked downstairs and everyone jumped out at me. It was people from the district, med, firehouse and school. It made me realise how many people I was leaving. I walked outside and sat on the steps. Jay and kelly came out after me.
Jay: what's going on?
Jaylen: nothing
Jay: I should have given you a heads up
Jaylen: I don't care about that
Jay
Jay: then what's going on?
Jaylen: it's just seeing everyone is making me realise how many people I'm leaving
Jay: but you'll be here to visit all the time
Jaylen: is this really the best thing I've been staying with you and kelly and it's been perfectly fine
Jay: we don't have jobs that can guarantee our safety
I put my head on his shoulder
Jay: it really is gonna be okay you know
Jaylen: I wanna stay here

Jay pov
Jaylen just broke down crying.
Jaylen: I wanna stay here with you
I pulled him into a hug
Jay: I'll FaceTime you everyday. I'll keep you updated about everything
Jaylen: what about the funeral?
Jay: we're still waiting for approval for a service funeral. They're saying they don't qualify because they weren't on duty
Jaylen: that's bullshit. They died because them patrol assholes couldn't do there goddamn job
Jay: that's why Hank is handling it. He's not gonna stop until they approve it. You ready to go back in?
He just shrugged
Jay: enjoy yourself before you go okay? Make some memories. Enjoy your last night here. All these people have come to say goodbye to you
Jaylen: I get it okay no need to make me feel bad okay
He got up and stormed into the house. Music was blaring and everyone was having fun. I followed after him and he was barging past people

Jaylen pov
I barged passed everyone and Kev stopped me.
Kev: hey Jay
Jaylen: leave me alone Kev
He looked at kelly and let me go. I sat in the kitchen. Jay got the karaoke mic and started speaking
Jay: so Jaylen. What a kid huh?
After everything he's been through he's still going strong. This kid is pretty much my little brother and I just want him to know that I'm proud of him. I'm proud of you and I'm proud of the young man you're becoming. I know your mom and dad will be proud. I know the next few weeks aren't gonna be easy but you've got it kiddo. I love you and I'm gonna miss you.
Kelly: Jaylen is like one of them little brothers where they can be annoying as hell but you'd kill anyone who hurts him and do anything for him. Life hasn't been easy but I'm hoping that now you will have the chance to succeed in both school and professionally. I will always be here for you no matter what. I love you kid and I'll miss you.
Diego: what can I say about my best friend huh? He would do anything for me and I'll do the same for him. He's my brother from another mother. Jaylen I know you're cringing at that but I don't care. I need you to know how much you mean to me. School is gonna be so boring without you. Who am I gonna mess around with? I know you moving is something that has to happen but it doesn't mean that it's easy to see you go. You're my best friend, my brother, my ride or die. I'll miss you. Don't forget me okay.
I was wiping the tears from my eyes.
Hank: Jaylen I just want to say that I truly am sorry and I hope you can forgive me. I want us to leave on good terms. I'll miss you kiddo
I gave them all a hug.
Jaylen: Hank I forgive you.
He hugged me timely.
Everyone: Speech! Speech! Speech!
I took the microphone
Jaylen: I just wanted to say thank you to kelly and Jay for taking me in. I know I'm not the easiest kid to deal with but you stuck by me. I hate that I'm leaving but it's something that I need to do. Really I just wanted to say that I love you all and I'll miss you.
We partied all night and I finally fell asleep on the couch.
