Shay: morning kelly
Kelly: morning
I gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Shay: I made breakfast.
Kelly: your the best
We were eating when Jaylen walked down the stairs
Shay: hey trouble
Jaylen: hi. Kelly you got any painkillers
Kelly: Advil in the cupboard. I'll get it. Why?
Jaylen: my heads killing me.
Kelly: you need to take your other meds too
Jaylen: after I've eaten
I got up and winced when I felt a wave of pain shot down my side.
Shay: you okay?
Kelly: yeah I'm fine
Shay: let me take a look
Kelly: I'm fine shay
Shay: kelly
Shay lifted up my shirt and I had a bruise of a footprint
Shay: damn Kelly
Jaylen: what happened?
Kelly: it happened at work
Shay: you was fine when you left
I looked over at Jaylen and he realised
Jaylen: did-did I do that?
Kelly: it's fine
Jaylen: I did that
Kelly: Jay it's okay
Jaylen: i i hurt you
He ran out
Kelly: Jaylen

Jaylen pov
I felt so bad. I hurt him. I hurt him bad. He has a massive footprint on his ribs because of me.
I ran out and was just walking around. I went to the cages and just hit ball after ball. I was so in the zone that I didn't hear any one coming
??: hey kid you okay
Jaylen: mhm
??: I'm Mouse
Jaylen: I'm Jaylen
Mouse: let's take a breather. You've been in here for a couple hours without a break
Jaylen: I'm fine
Mouse: can I call anyone
Jaylen: No it's okay. I erm I
Mouse: hey kid you okay?
Jaylen: mumbling
My mind felt all fuzzy and I had a weird metal taste in my mouth.

Mouse pov
Jaylen seemed out of it. I was confused and I didn't know how to help him. I don't understand what was happening.
Jaylen: weird
All of a sudden is eyes rolled back and just started shaking. I caught him just before he hit the floor and lowered him to the ground. I was looking for some sort of medical bracelet but there was nothing
Kelly: Mouse?
Mouse: a little help Kelly?
He looked at the kid and it looks like he knows him
Mouse: you know him?
Kelly: yeah erm he's a family friend. How long has he been seizing?
Mouse: about 2 minutes. This happen a lot?
Kelly: yeah. He has epilepsy. We just have to wait it out
The seizure eventually slowed and Jaylen was unconscious. 20 minutes later he woke up
Kelly: wait until he's fully come around. Sometimes he can get violent while coming out of it.
Mouse: you good here I'm meeting up with someone
Kelly: yeah

Kelly pov
Mouse left and Jaylen hadn't fully come around. He started staring blankly at me with his lips smacking and hands rubbing. He had about 5 more of these seizures back to back. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and he started seizing again. I timed it and called for an ambulance. A few minutes later ambo 61 turned up.
Shay: Kelly
Kelly: you need to help him shay. They're not stopping
Shay: I'll do everything I can Kelly. Ring Jay to meet us
Shay put in an IV and pushed some medication. The seizure slowed down before stopping.
Kelly: it's getting worse Shay. His meds aren't working
Shay: we'll get it sorted. You jumping in?
Kelly: course
We went to med where Will was waiting. They took him into a treatment room and sent him for head scans. While he was out I rang Jay
Kelly: Jaylens at med
Jay: what?
Kelly: his seizures are getting bad. He had 7 seizures today and about 5 yesterday
Jay: ah shit
Kelly: Wills taken him for scans
Jay: well we have a massive case so Hanks not gonna let me leave
Kelly: it's fine. I'll let you know what they say
Jay: bye kelly

I was just waiting around waiting for Will
April: hey Kelly
Kelly: hi April
April: what you doing here?
Kelly: Jaylen
April: how bad is it?
Kelly: his meds aren't working. We're running out of options
April: I'm sorry Kelly
Kelly: it's fine
Will and Nat brought Jaylen back into the room.
Will: everything looks okay. There seems to be no damage. You'll want to see about getting his meds changed
Kelly: meds aren't working.
Nat: you may want to look at diet changes and if it doesn't work then last resort will be surgery.
Kelly: he struggles with food so what would the diet be changed to?
Nat: he could try a ketogenic diet
Kelly: what's that?
Nat: The ketogenic diet includes high amounts of fat, low to moderate amounts of protein, and very little carbohydrates. The keto diet is typically rich in foods like butter, cheese, eggs, meat, nuts, oils, seafood, and seeds. It does not allow much, if any, room for fruits, vegetables, grains, potatoes, sweets, or other carbohydrate-rich foods.
Kelly: that's most of the things we can actually give him to eat.
Nat: it will probably do more harm than good
Kelly: He is really fussy as it is. It's a struggle to get him to eat. He'll only eat foods he's comfortable with
Nat: i guess we'll have to look at other options
Will: when he wakes we'll check him over then he's free to go
Kelly: thanks

A few hours later I heard groaning. Jaylen covered his eyes
Kelly: hey buddy
Jaylen: bright
Kelly: I know
Jaylen: home
Kelly: soon. Real soon
Jaylen: where 'm I?
Kelly: you're in med kiddo. You had a really bad day with your seizures.
Jaylen: oh okay. I'm hungry. Can we get food?
Kelly: sure. We need to talk about your diet?
Jaylen: why?
Kelly: we may need to change it to help your seizures
Jaylen: what do you mean?
Kelly: it can help control the seizures seeing as you haven't responded to the meds as we hoped. We want to see if the diet works and if not then we may have to look at other options
Jaylen: what can I eat?
Kelly: well, the diet includes high amounts of fat, low to moderate amounts of protein, and very little carbohydrates
Jaylen: that sounds rubbish. There's no way I'm doing that
Kelly: let's just give it a try
Jaylen: No
Kelly: we'll talk about it later with Jay
Jaylen: can we go home?
Kelly: Will and Nat have to check you over first
As soon as I said that, Will and Nat walked in
Will: how you doing trouble?
Jaylen: fine my head hurts a little
Will: that's totally normal
Nat: everything looks good so your good to go
Kelly: Jay go get changed but leave the door open a little
He got ready then we headed home. We got home and shay was there
Shay: hey
Jaylen: hi
Shay: you hungry?
Jaylen: starving. Kelly's tryna make me go on a diet
Shay: really?
Kelly: I said we could try it
Shay: huh
Kelly: we need to try something
Shay: he struggles with food as it is
Jaylen: told you
Kelly: I know
Jaylen: can we get Caribbean food?
Kelly: sure
Shay: I want bbq chicken and rice and peas
We went to the Caribbean take out place
Kingston: weh yuh ah seh?
Jaylen: wah gwaan
Kingston: what can I do for you?
Jaylen: can I have bbq chicken with rice and peas, jerk chicken with rice and peas, mac n cheese and some plantain please
Kelly: can I get 2 beef patties, jerk chicken with rice and peas and some plantain
Kingston: sure. Likkle man you want any cake?
Kaylen: rum cake
Kingston: sure
We got the food and went back home ate then went to bed
