Ch. 16: An Unforgettable School Day

On one of the upper floors of Blight Industries, Odalia was in the board room, having a chat with a person on the projector.

"Y-y-you have to understand, it's not ready." Odalia said, "SV-01 needs further testing before we can use it."

"No, it is you who needs to understand, what we have planned cannot be delayed any longer." The person said, "The time has come, and it needs to happen."

"Unleashing it now will lead to it failing miserably." Odalia argued, "We need at least another year before the testing phase can begin."

"Then you need to distract Dr. Blight for longer." The person said, "If he finishes those arms before you can move the tool to a secured location, then everything will be for nothing!"

"I... I am aware of that sir. I am doing everything I can."

"One mistake, and we both are done for." The person said, getting very serious, "If we are caught, then we will be tried for crimes against humanity."

"I have things under control." Odalia said, "In less than four years, then we will have established a new world, a better world."

"And your husband won't talk like his old friend?"

"I can assure you that Alador will not be like Camila." Odalia said, before picking up a ringing phone, "Hello? Yes, I see. Very good, you may commence the attack."

Odalia hung up the phone and smiled.

"It would seem that school is going to be let out early." She said with a sinister smile.

At the school, a few white unmarked box trucks parked around it. Several people got out of a few, one of which held a detonator.

"Let the games begin." He said, pressing the button.

Inside the school, Luz was listening to the teacher when she felt her spider sense go off, right before the building shook and several explosions went off. Luz looked out the window just in time to see a Truck bomb explode. The fire alarms went off and students started to scream, which would be a reasonable reaction in this kind of situation. Several students ran out the door... only for loud gunfire to ring through the air and several students to drop dead. Luz's eyes widened at this, it wasn't the first time she watched someone die, but unlike her mother, it wasn't just a simple bullet to the head that did it, there were some that were taking their last breath with tears in their eyes. Among the other students, Amity's vision was blurry and she felt her face burn. She was closest to the window, and that allowed fire to lick at her from the explosion. The blast was strong enough to knock her to the ground, the ringing in her ears helped silence the gunfire... to an extent. She could still hear a few bullets being fired, the sounds of her classmates screaming and dying. She crawled to the wall, leaving a red streak as she crawled. She coughed, seeing several drops of red fall out of her mouth through her blurry vision.

"Mity... mity... okay?"

Amity's hearing stopped ringing and she hear the voice of Luz.

"Amity, can you hear me!?" Luz asked, clearly panicking.

Amity just groaned in pain, barely conscious.

"Don't worry, I'll get you out of here!" Luz said.

Luz picked her up and began to carry her out of the room, which was somewhat safe, as the people attacking had moved to another part of the school, not discriminating who they killed. Luz was smart, as she had calmed down a lot of students, which helped give the view that everyone in the room had run out and died to the attackers, and helped them get out by the window. Unfortunately, she couldn't get Amity out that way, as the drop, which other could easily be overcome by a person that was all there, was too high up to drop Amity in her state, and Luz didn't want to reveal her powers to anyone as there was a crowd forming, most of which was the police, who were either getting the area sectioned off, or getting ready to go in. Luz figured looked out the window as she left the room, expecting for the cops to come in, only for the front doors to open and rockets being fired, causing complete chaos outside and killing a lot of unsuspecting Swat officers. Luz looked horrified and wanted to look away, but she couldn't.

'So... much death.' Luz thought.

Suddenly, she heard voices.

"Luz!"

Luz looked over and saw Willow and Gus, both with blood on them, and Willow limping a bit. Then they saw Amity and went pale.

"We... we have to get her out of here." Luz said.

"There's an emergency exit in the music room, if we can get there we should be able to get out." Gus said.

"Yeah, but how do we get there with all these crazy, gun toting, maniacs!" Willow said.

"Well, either die talking about this here, or we have a chance of getting out." Luz said, "And I know which I want, so, which way is the music room?"

Willow helped Luz carry Amity as Gus led them through the halls to the music room.
