17. Special

A few days had passed since Levi's trip to Dr. Jaeger's office ended in him being rushed to the emergency room. [Y/N], Hange, and the rest of their squad spent each day rotating shifts, so one person was always with Levi in case he finally woke up. It just so happened that today was Friday night, and most of the gang came to hang out at the hospital together to keep Levi's sleeping form company.

[Friday 5:45 p.m.]

"Sasha sit the fuck down! Relax! You don't have to eat everything the nurses leave on the table!" Connie yelled as he grabbed a cup of diced peaches.

"Well, clearly he doesn't need it, does he?! He's fucking unconscious! I'm reducing food waste in the world!" She screamed as she fought Connie for the cup back.

Everyone else in the room shook their heads in embarrassment. "Do they have to do this every time the nurses drop off food?" [Y/N] whispered to Hange.

"Yes. Yes, they do!" Hange smiled and cackled nonchalantly. "Food makes them happy! Free food is good food!" [Y/N] giggled at Hange's response and playfully shoved her a bit in return. "Plus, there's no harm in it, I suppose. It is true that Levi won't be needing it anytime soon, hmm?"

"It's mine!" Connie screamed.

"No, I had my hands on it first, you doofus!" Sasha replied, kicking him in the thigh.

"You are both idiots for the record.. and we are in a hospital, by the way." Ymir said as she grabbed both of their ears and pulled.

"Ouch!" They both said in unison.

While all of this was occurring, Hange noticed [Y/N] keeping a close eye on Levi as he remained in a deep sleep. "It seems you are pretty worried about him, huh?" She said as she grinned and watched [Y/N] jump at her question. Quickly changing the focus of her attention to the floor.

"I-I'm not worried.."

"You don't have to lie to me, darling. I can see the worry plastered all over your pretty face!" Hange said as she rubbed her back softly. "He will be fine! I'm sure of it!"

"It's just.. I was there when it happened. I took his vitals not long before he collapsed. He was perfectly healthy and everything was fine. It all happened so suddenly. I don't understand how that is medically possible.." [Y/N] said as she glanced back over at Levi. Her eyes drifted to the screen above him, monitoring his vitals. She listened to the low beeps of his heart and sighed.

"It was scary, I'm sure. But one thing I've noticed about Levi from the start is that there is nothing normal about him! Maybe Levi himself is a medical mystery. You did mention how strong he is.. and didn't you say Dr. Jaeger mentioned he noticed something strange in his bloodwork results that came back yesterday?" Hange's tone was helping to ease some of [Y/N]'s worries, but still.. she seemed to be letting all of this bother her a lot more than she should.

"You know.. Mikasa was also complaining of weird aching migraines. She said she felt like she was going insane because she was having these vivid visions in her dreams. When she woke up, her head would be throbbing, and she felt weak and sickly. I wonder.." [Y/N] said, but Hange interrupted.

"I see. Mikasa, too, you say? How strange.." Hange said as she pushed her glasses up her nose. "Maybe there's something going around! Don't let it bother you too much!"

"I study medicine Hange, I'm a future RN. Things like this interest me.. especially something with no answer like all of this."

"Oh, stop being a worry wart [Y/N]! Everything will be.." A knock at the hospital room door caught everyone's attention. Hange stood up and raced to open the door. "AH EREN! Come in, sweetie! The gang is all here! What took you so long?"
