44. Sweet Dreams..

[Here it is.. a little of [Y/N]'s childhood trauma for ya.. 😭]

It was getting late in the evening..
[Y/N] could tell by the look of the sun lowering behind the moutains and the sky starting to change to these pretty pastel colors of yellows, oranges, pinks, and purples. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. The sky back home never looked like this. She wished she had a camera, but she left it back.. back wherever she was just before with her father. Now, NOW.. she was kinda lost.. with not one person in sight, but that didn't matter. [Y/N] was always fearless and ready for an adventure. And this place.. was the perfect place for an adventure.

"Daddy?" She projected her sweet little voice as loud as she could, but everything else around her was so desolate.

"DADDYYYYY?" She sang again as her little legs took her further through the green overgrown landscape. The only noises surrounding her were those of unknown wildlife, bushes and trees rustling, and the howl of the wind. She wasn't afraid to be alone. But she just knew when her father found her.. she was in for it. She shouldn't have walked away from him. She knew he wasn't looking at that particular moment. She knew he was busy and she could escape. She was told to behave.. but everything here was so interesting. It was like a different world. A world frozen in time.

"I FOUND HER! SHE'S RIGHT OVER HERE BOSS!" [Y/N] heard a familiar voice coming up from behind her. It was one of the members of security that always followed her father around when they went on these business trips around the world. She never understood why he needed so much security. She just figured he was just really important.

"[Y/N]!" She heard the sound of her father's footsteps fast approaching. The jingle of the large set of keys always attached to his hip was another sure sign it was him. Catching sight of her, he instantly ran to her.. scooping her up in his strong, protective arms.

"What did I tell you about leaving my side?! You are very far away from home [Y/N].. this place isn't safe! Daddy is working, and I need you to stay near me at all times.." Her father's voice softened at the last sentence, and he gave her a peck on the forehead. He was just relieved to see she was safe and sound.

"Sorry, Daddy.." [Y/N] pouted sadly and lowered her head.

"It's fine, Rugrat." He smiled and placed her feet softly back on the ground. He grabbed her tightly by the hand, and they began to walk together down a dilapidated road, following the security man.

"Hey, Daddy.. can we live here? It's so pretty. The sky is so colorful here! Did ya see it? Did ya?!" [Y/N] said excitedly. She was so pure, so happy, so.. innocent. If only she knew.. her father thought. Thank goodness she was too young to understand what she was truly looking at.. the destruction that had taken place, the lives cut short so suddenly.

He sighed deeply. "I'm afraid we can't live here, sweetheart.. but yes.. I must admit, it is beautiful." The landscape was a stunning natural wonder. The unruly vines that were engulfing what was left of the defeated buildings were awe-worthy. It was truly a vision of nature taking back what belonged to her.

"Okay.. well, next time we should come back and bring Mommy! She would love it here!" She smiled sweetly as she began to skip at her father's side. "Why are there no people anywhere? Usually the places we travel to have lots of people."

Her father frowned. "Afraid there won't be a next time.." He solemnly started but was interrupted.

"Shouldn't have brought the little one to begin with. She's becoming too smart for her own good, boss. She's always getting into trouble these days." The large built security man said straightforwardly. "Who knows what dangers are lurking around this island still. It's clearly no place for a curious child."
