[Y/N] was woken out of her sleep by a loud rumble of thunder that shook the bed. Levi's apartment was located on the 3rd floor, and the sound of the rain pounding on the roof above echoed throughout the room. Thunderstorms in November definitely weren't a normal thing where they lived. She knew she wouldn't be able to return to sleep now. Not 'being a fan' of storms like these was an understatement. She sat up and swung her legs to the side of Levi's bed.

Just as she went to stand up, her phone on the nightstand next to the bed started to vibrate. The screen flashed brightly with a message. A flash flood warning was in effect for the next couple of hours. Wonderful. She grabbed her phone and quietly made her way out of the room, down the small hallway towards the living area. She glanced at the sofa, expecting to see Levi's sleeping form, but to her surprise, he wasn't there. Where would he be in this weather?

Another crack of thunder rumbled in the distance as [Y/N] made her way into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water from the fridge. The rain seemed to pour down even louder. She grabbed the bottle of water, walked over to the sofa, and sat. Covering herself in the soft throw blanket Levi must have been using the past couple of days. His scent instantly intoxicated [Y/N]'s senses, calming her and easing her mind from the roaring storm outside. Sadly, her brain had other thoughts that just wouldn't seem to disappear.

There had been so much going on these past few weeks. The tension between her and Zeke. Everything she heard between her father and Dr. Jaeger. Grisha.. a brilliant doctor. Not only her boyfriends father, but somebody she used to look up to. Now, he was clearly a man who was hiding something.

The fact that her father was involved also made her feel extremely uneasy. It was clear this must have had something to do with the reason she had been sheltered and secluded her whole life. Why was her father even at the hospital with Dr. Jaeger to begin with? [Y/N] also couldn't help but wonder if Levi's uncle had anything to do with this. If not.. why would both men have been there with him in that secretive area of the hospital? Why the hell would he have been placed under a medically induced coma with no underlying condition?

All of this tied together somehow, and she was still on a mission to understand why. That was all still on hold for the time being, though. She had more important things to worry about right now. Like school for one.. and she hated to admit it, but Levi was the other. Her interest in him was growing rapidly. It started off as him just being an interesting person to observe, but she now caught herself worrying about him far too often.

This wasn't good for her. In the pit of her gut, something was telling her to stay away. Her father's warnings were still ringing in her head. But he is my friend. My father controlled enough of my life. I won't allow him to control who I let close to me as well. Also, although she didn't regret staying with Levi recently, the thought of Zeke finding out was a scary one. Hopefully, no issues would arise, and she could continue to keep an eye on Levi for at least a couple more days. Only if he didn't mind, of course.

Suddenly, two long simultaneous flashes of lightning flooded the dark living area, startling her. The light seemed to burst through the large sliding glass door that led out onto the balcony outside. For a second, [Y/N] could have sworn she was seeing things. Another small flash of lightning followed by a boom in the distance proved her eyes correct. There was a figure standing outside on the balcony overlooking the town.

She removed the blanket from over her body and stood. Slowly, she made her way over to the glass door and slid it open cautiously. The nonstop raindrops obscured her vision, but the sight in front of her made her jaw drop with a hint of concern.

"Levi?!" [Y/N] said loudly over the sound of the water hitting the concrete. "What the hell are you doing out here? It's pouring!"

She could make out Levi's figure, turning around to face her head on. Another strobe of lightning illuminated the whole town in the distance, as well as Levi's features coming towards her. He was soaking wet. Water droplets cascaded off of his jawline and fell onto the concrete below his feet. His hair, which normally fell neatly parted to each side, was now plastered onto his forehead. The grey v-neck t-shirt he was wearing was tightly hugging his body from the dampness. Every dip and bludge of his sculpted chest and abdomen was clearly visible.
