22. A Glimmer Of Hope

[Monday, 12:15 p.m.]

"You did WHAT?!" Hange and Mikasa shrieked in unison, their jaws practically dropped on the checkered restaurant floor.

"I asked Levi if I could stay with him for a few nights so I could keep an eye on his condition. What's the big deal?"

Mikasa and Hange turned their heads to stare at each other and then back at [Y/N]. They didn't know what to say.

"Shreke ish basch shats not ah gshood idear." Sasha mumbled as food flew out of her mouth.

"Sasha.. swallow first, babe." Mikasa said as she patted Sasha's back.

Sasha swallowed the food in her mouth with a large gulp. "Ah, sorry. I said.. Zeke is back. That's not a good idea." She then continued to stuff her face with more food.

"It's going to be completely professional. I will fill Zeke in on everything that's been going on since he's been gone. He's been missing for days and won't tell anyone where he's been. He doesn't have a say in the matter, to be honest." [Y/N] shrugged her shoulders and took a sip of her [fave flavor] iced coffee.

"This isn't a smart move, [Y/N]. You know Zeke and Levi don't like one another to begin with. How do you think he will react when he finds out you are staying in Levi's apartment?" Mikasa questioned as she pulled out her phone and glanced at her messages. A slight blush crept up her cheeks. "Eren is almost here. He just texted me." Everyone nodded in response.

"I guess I'm going to have to make sure he won't find out then.." [Y/N] replied in a serious tone. The other girls couldn't believe the words leaving her mouth, but they understood how [Y/N] was feeling. He had been missing without a trace for days, and now he is just acting as if nothing even happened. "Plus, Levi and I made these arrangements before Zeke even popped back up. It's settled."

The bells on the front door of the restaurant jingled, and everyone turned their heads towards the sound. Mikasa instantly smiled at the sight of the boy who walked in the door. Hange made sure to nudge her in the side teasingly, but she was kind enough to stand and move to the other side of the booth to make room for him to sit next to Mikasa.

"Sup, guys!" Eren made his way to the booth his friends were seated at. Once he got to the booth, he grabbed a french fry from a random plate and sat next to Mikasa, placing a kiss on her cheek. He threw his arm around her neck and leaned back in the seat.

"GAH! What was that?!" Hange shrieked, waving her hands in front of her.

"Yerh wert wash dat?!" Sasha spewed food all over the place.

"Sasha.. your mouth." [Y/N] pointed at her mouth and giggled. Sasha gulped the food down quickly.

"Yeah! What was that?!" Sasha screamed across the table. Making all of the other guests in the room turn and look at her.

Eren and Mikasa's faces both went a shade of red at their friends' response to Eren's simple display.

"So you guys are finally official now?" [Y/N] quietly asked and glanced over at Sasha and Hange, who were basically foaming at the mouth waiting for the answer. Eren passed Mikasa a glance, and Mikasa nodded.

"For 2 days now.. we were just gonna wait until Reiner's Welcome Home party for Zeke to tell everyone at once. But.." Eren smiled at Mikasa and straightened the scarf around her neck.

"FINALLY! PRAISE THE HEAVENS ABOVE!" Hange exclaimed at the top of her lungs.

"Hange shhh.. you are disrupting everyone's meals." [Y/N] whispered as she looked around the room.
