It was dark, unusually dark.. even for the dimly lit alleyways of the town. Maybe it just seemed that way. Maybe the moon hadn't been shining as brightly.. or maybe it was because Levi's vision had been fluctuating since he rushed from his apartment building. One moment, he couldn't see a thing. The next, he felt like he was looking through a night vision camera or he was seeing thermal heat signatures. Clearly, whatever these pills were doing to him wasn't that of any normal human functioning.

Levi followed the directions his mother left for him in her letter. Where they were leading him, he had no idea.. but he knew for sure that he could trust his mother and the information she gifted him with. How she had known about the location of his apartment building and how to navigate him through the town was a whole other question. He didn't have the time to think about it at the moment, but he would be eventually bringing that up to somebody for an explanation in the future. Who that somebody would be was also up in the air.. like basically.. every aspect of his life right now.

His body weakened the further he traveled, but his mind continued to feel sharper than ever. His skin, on the other hand, felt like it was blazing.. not even figuratively anymore. He was staring to think he was actually burning to a crisp. He watched as the cold night air hit his skin and caused a smokey fog to rise from his still exposed arms and abdomen. It looked similar to when somebody would exhale outdoors in freezing temperatures.

Levi didn't know how much longer he would be able to handle this sharp, nonstop, stinging pain, but he was thankful for the high level of adrenaline flowing through his veins when he needed it most. To be fair, it was the only thing truly keeping his body upright and in motion. He felt seemingly unstoppable.

As he continued to make his way through the darkness to this secretive destination, he couldn't help but think about everything that led up to this. He really fucking thought he was going to live a normal college student life. You know.. have some fun, meet some women.. maybe someone special. Graduate. Maybe gain that full ownership of the bar. Maybe open up some more businesses in the future. Make his mother and Kenny proud. Back when he didn't realize what the hell his episodes really were. Back before, he somehow was drawn to attend that damn university. It didn't make sense to continue dwelling on it all, though. Right now, his main objective was just wanting to make it out of this alive.

About 5 minutes or so more had passed, and Levi was now practically on his knees.. pushing his body to the absolute limit. He made his way to the end of a long, pitch-black, fenced-in corridor. The extreme darkness didn't make a difference, however. His advanced vision allowed him to now see everything in front of him clearly. The location appeared to be the back of a brick building.. an office or a home, maybe? It was clear to Levi that this structure didn't look abandoned. The surroundings were in great shape and well maintained. Somebody had to be here, right? He took a moment to pray to a God he didn't even know if he believed in. He was just that desperate.

Now pulling himself forward, grunting in pain with every motion, Levi's eyes locked onto something attached to the building. A large metal exterior cellar door was off to the side, connected to the structure. It was exactly what he had been looking for, exactly in the location where his mother had described it to be. Dragging himself to the opening of the cellar doors, it was clear they led to some type of underground attachment. A basement, perhaps.. but what was hiding beneath those doors was the real question.

The more his stomach and forearms scraped across the cement ground, the more he felt that fiery, hot feeling of his burning flesh. The appearance of the steam rising from his body was something straight out of a science fiction movie. A normal human shouldn't have been alive right now.. that much was certain.
