Life on the Butler farm was bustling with the usual activity when Austin’s phone rang, interrupting the tranquil morning. He glanced at the screen, seeing an unfamiliar number from the local hospital. A sense of dread settled in his stomach as he answered.
“This is Austin Butler.”
“Mr. Butler, this is Nurse Davis from the local hospital. I’m calling to inform you that your father, David Butler, has been admitted to the intensive care unit. He’s suffered a potential heart attack. We need you to come as soon as possible.”
Austin’s heart dropped. “We’re on our way.”
He quickly found Emma and Ashley, who were working together in the garden. “We need to get to the hospital. Dad’s in intensive care. They think he had a heart attack.”
Emma and Ashley’s faces paled, their eyes wide with fear. Without another word, they all rushed to the car, leaving Benny and Lori-Anne with instructions to take care of the farm while they were gone.
