Over the next few days, Lori-Anne and Alejandro made preparations for their move back to Montana. They packed up their belongings, said their goodbyes to friends and colleagues in California, and began to make arrangements for their new life.
Kaia felt a bittersweet sense of relief, knowing that Lori-Anne and Alejandro would have the support of their family as she returned home to be with her mother. "Thank you for understanding," she told them. "I’ll always be grateful for the time I spent with you."
Lori-Anne hugged her tightly. "We’ll miss you, Kaia. Please keep in touch and let us know if you need anything."
