As they sat down to dinner, Austin decided to test Alejandro a bit. “So, Alejandro,” he began, his tone serious, “what are your intentions with my daughter?”
Alejandro met Austin’s gaze steadily. “Mr. Butler, I care deeply for Lori-Anne. I want to support her dreams and be there for her in every way I can.”
Austin leaned back, pretending to scrutinize Alejandro. “Hmm. We’ll see about that.”
Lori-Anne shot her father a pleading look, but Austin kept his serious facade. After dinner, as they gathered in the living room, Austin finally broke into a smile.
“I’m just messing with you, Alejandro,” he said, clapping him on the shoulder. “But seriously, treat my little girl with the utmost respect and care. She means the world to us.”
Alejandro nodded earnestly. “I promise, sir. Lori-Anne is very special to me, and I will always treat her with the respect and love she deserves.”
