The evening descended upon the city, casting long shadows across the streets as Lisa sat at her desk, surrounded by stacks of paperwork. The weight of the past week bore down on her shoulders as she meticulously went through each document, ensuring that everything was in order for the upcoming week.

Despite the late hour, Lisa was determined to catch up on the company's affairs, especially with John's people. They had been instrumental in keeping things running smoothly during her absence, and she wanted to make sure she was up to speed with all the latest developments.

As she worked tirelessly, the silence of the apartment was occasionally broken by the soft murmurs of Frank and Rex, who stood guard nearby. Their presence offered a sense of security in the otherwise empty space, a reminder that she was not alone in her endeavors.

Janet had left earlier, leaving Lisa to her tasks, and Michael's continued absence stuck on her mind. His lack of response or communication only added to the sense of isolation that she felt.

Lisa remained focused,  with each document reviewed, she moved one step closer to ensuring that everything was ready for the week ahead.

Her train of thought was abruptly interrupted by the persistent ringing of the phone, pulling her attention away from the sea of paperwork spread out before her. Lisa's hand instinctively reached for the device, her fingers fumbling slightly as she answered the call.

"Hello?" Lisa answered, her voice carrying a hint of fatigue from the long day's work.

"Lisa? It's me, Daniel," the familiar voice on the other end of the line sparked a flicker of hope in her tired mind.

"Daniel, have you decided?" Lisa's tone held a note of anticipation.

"I have," he replied after a brief pause, "I will do it, Lisa."

Relief washed over Lisa, and she leaned back in her chair, feeling a weight lifted from her shoulders. "Good, you have no idea how much it will help me."

"I know, Lisa. That's why I want to do it. Although I have one fear—when Michael hears about it, you might be in trouble," Daniel expressed softly, his concern evident.

"Don't worry about that. I'll handle it. Michael is in New York right now, taking care of both my and his company, but only in my name. So, if he has any issues about my company, he has to talk to me," Lisa assured him, her voice steady despite the turmoil within.

"You're going for a war, after what he did. I don't want to stand between you and him," Daniel remarked, his voice troubled.

"You aren't. We had our issues without your help. I don't really care what he thinks about my decision-making in my company," Lisa stated firmly, revealing the depth of her resolve.

Daniel was taken aback by her resolve. "Lisa, are you okay? I'm asking as a friend," he voiced his concern.

"I don't want to talk about it. It's too much for one phone call," Lisa deflected, not wanting to delve into the complexities of her personal life.

"Do you want me to come over?" Daniel offered, his concern evident in his voice.

"No. I don't think it's a good idea. Not after what happened before," Lisa declined quietly.

"I understand. I get that. Don't worry, this time I don't want to screw it up. I want to make it better for you and me, as much as it sounds egotistical," Daniel admitted with a hint of self-awareness.

"At least you admit it. Some people prefer playing games," Lisa remarked, her thoughts drifting to certain individuals in her life.

Daniel chuckled. "Well, don't you think that putting my feelings above my friend would give me a sense of growing up?"
