The next morning, we set off for Amsterdam. Our suitcases were packed, and Noah was behind the wheel, guiding the car down the quiet, early morning roads. It was still dark when we left, the sky just beginning to hint at dawn. The cool air, the anticipation of the trip, and the fact that Noah was with me made the entire experience that much more exciting.
"You didn't sleep this time," Noah remarked, glancing over at me with a smile as we drove.
"Didn't feel like it," I replied, reaching over to intertwine my hand with his. His large hand enveloped mine, and I felt a warm sense of comfort and connection.
"I love it when you get all clingy," he said, his voice teasing but filled with affection.
"It feels good," I murmured, smiling as I turned to look out the window, taking in the scenery as the first light of dawn began to creep over the horizon. The view was breathtaking, the world slowly waking up around us.
"The view is amazing, isn't it?" I said, my eyes fixed on the sight of the sun slowly rising, painting the sky in soft hues of pink and orange.
"If only you could see mine," Noah whispered, his gaze fixed on me instead of the sunrise. There was a warmth in his voice, a hint of something deeper, something that made my heart flutter.
I playfully slapped his cheek, making sure it didn't hurt, just enough to make him laugh. I then began scrolling through my playlist, looking for a Punjabi song to match the mood. I wanted to make the most of my passenger princess journey, embracing the part of me that would always be a Punjabi girl at heart. After all, you can take the girl out of India, but you can't take India out of the girl.
I finally found the song I was looking for and hit play. "Wishes" started playing, the familiar beats filling the car, and I instantly felt a surge of excitement.
Hoke tetho duur mein
Khoya apne aap nu
Adda hissa mere dil da
Hoeya tere khilaaf kyun
Adda dil chaunda ae tenu
Karni chaunda baat kyunThe lyrics resonated with me, bringing a sense of comfort and nostalgia.
"Can you play something we both can understand, so I can sing along with you?" Noah asked, breaking into my thoughts.
"Party pooper," I teased, sticking my tongue out at him.
He shot me a playful glare, his tone turning slightly more serious but with a seductive edge. "Let me show you what a real party pooper is."
I knew exactly what he was hinting at, especially given how early it was and the fact that there were no other cars around us. My heart raced in anticipation, and I leaned in closer to him, whispering, "Show me, Noah. How it is."
Without missing a beat, he pulled me onto his lap, positioning me so that I was sitting facing the steering wheel. The sensation of his strong arms around me sent shivers down my spine.
