It was cold and awfully quiet around her, like it was any other day of the week and the past few months.

She would wake up on her bed, in the Other Side's version of her room and the boarding house. She would be all alone and cold.

Always cold.

She should've passed over after that night with Ezekiel.

Why was she still here?

She sat up on the bed, finally tired of the same cycle.

It seems Death would be mercy upon her.

Maybe it would be nice to re explore the whole world again. She could drink as many beers and vodka she wanted, wear all the clothes in every store, read all the books in every library and nobody could stop her from it.

She could even dance naked if she wanted to.

She walked out of the house with a warm cup of coffee in her hand and the sun shining down on her, the breeze blowing onto her skin.

Something's different today.

Adela took a sip of her coffee and shivered, returning back into the house.

Her head turned around when she felt something breeze past her.

"I'm already almost dead, you know... Nothing is scarier than not dying,"she called out.

"Come out!"

A woman stepped into the living room, dressed in an old, pink dress from the 1900s and a hat to complete the look. But the hat couldn't hide the eyes she knew so well and the dress didn't fool her.

She would always remember the eyes that abandoned her and her brothers.

She threw the cup at the woman who avoided it, watching the cup hit the fireplace and break into sharp ceramic pieces.

"Get out!"Adela yelled.

She grabbed a vase and threw it across the room.

"Get the fuck out!"

"Adela!"Lillian blurred toward her and pinned her against the wall.

Adela blurred under her arm and toward the fireplace, grabbing the fire poker.

"I will burn you,"she spat.

"I am your mother,"Lillian frowned.

"My mother died,"Adela said.

"I am standing right here,"the woman scolded.

"My mother died in 1858,"Adela repeated as she heated up the sharp end of the fire poker in the fire.

"Adela Salvatore-"

She raised the fire poker, stopping the woman from nearing her any further.

"What the hell are you doing here?"she questioned.

"If you put that thing down, I'll tell you,"Lillian said carefully.

"Over my dead body,"Adela scoffed.

"Talk. Now. How are you on the Other Side?"

Lillian frowned in confusion.

"Sweetheart, you're in a prison world of 1903,"she said.

"How did you get here?"she questioned.
