______________________________________Samar's pov:
I opened the letter and my eyes fell over the words. The first word I read was: Pikachu!
Wait, what?
Pikachu?
No, no, no. The whole sentence was: "My dear best friend Mr. Pikachu."
Damn! Seriously?
I shook my head, trying to make sense of what I was reading.
Who on earth would address someone as Mr. Pikachu?
I continued reading, curiosity getting the better of me.
"My dear best friend Mr. Pikachu,
I hope this letter finds you well. I have heard that you are back in the town after 12 years.
I know you must be thinking who I am? I am someone you once saved from being bitten by a dog when we were kids, and that's when we became friends. But then suddenly you shifted to USA with your family, without even saying a goodbye to me."
I paused, wondering who this letter was actually meant for.
There was no return address, and the handwriting was unfamiliar.
And one thing was sure: this letter was definitely not for me, because neither I am Mister Pikachu, nor I have been living in the USA.
Maybe this letter is for the person who was the previous owner of this house.
I continued reading the letter.
"You might not remember me, but I have never forgotten you.
I don't know if this letter will reach you or not because I have used the same old trick to communicate with you that we used when we were kids. But I thought, 'Why not give it a shot?' What's the harm in trying, right?
And in case this letter has reached you and you are reading this, then tell me, where have you been for the last 12 years?
In these 12 years, did you ever remember your friend even once? Not a message, phone call, or letter. You forgot about your friend as soon as you went to the USA."
I frowned. This part of the letter seemed personal, like a message meant only for the recipient.
I wondered what had happened between these two friends. I continued reading the letter further, hoping to find some answers.
"Remember the treehouse we built together? The one where we spent our time playing games when we were kids. I went back there recently, and it was all still there, frozen in time.
Whenever I go there, all the memories of our childhood flash back in my mind.
Anyways, I'm not writing this letter to make you emotional. I'm writing this letter to let you know that I'm very happy to know that you are back in town, and I hope to meet you, only if you want to meet me.
No pressure, okay?
But, I'm not going to make it so easy for you to meet me. You left without saying goodbye, so now that you've returned, you'll have to put in a little effort to meet me.
A little punishment will be given to you. After all, I'm your friend, and from childhood too, so I have the right to demand that much at least, right? But don't worry the punishment to you will not be given now, it will be given to you later.
