"You look healthy." Ray said looking at Caesar.

He was tossing a bale of hay.

"Well as much as she feeds me." He said and Ray finally let out a smile.

"My momma sholl goin to do that." He said and Caesar continued moving bales.

"You know you woulda been a good farm hand." Ray complimented and Caesar smiled.

"You think so? "He asked.

He was shocked about his uncle actually being nice to him but he was. One day he was just defeated and Caesar was going to up and leave but after a talk with Ray he decided to hang in there. His grandfather wasn't going to be any help and he still didn't talk to him. He had been there for 6 weeks and still he had only gotten one sentence and normally one word, no.

Caesar finished stacking the hay before he clapped his hands.

"So how you think its goin to go?" Ray asked and Caesar shrugged.

'Im not so sure." He admitted and Ray nodded.

"You a Peterson and we good at fixin things." Ray said and Nikki walked past.

She had the biggest smile on her face.

Caesar nodded and Ray patted his back.

"Make things right." He said and as usual Caesar grandfather walked out.

He didn't say a word but just stared at him before he walked off.

Caesar sighed.

He didn't know what he could say or do to get him to like him.

He figured it was best to just steer clear.

"I'll tell you how it goes." He said and Ray tossed him the old truck keys.

Caesar smirked.

No one would believe he was driving an old beat-up truck instead of spending his money.

Instead, he had decided to secretly invest in the farm. He knew his grandmother would never ask and was sure as hell his grandfather wouldn't but he figured while he was there he was going to help out, just a little. They had given him the warmth of a family, something he had never been given before.

"Good luck." Ray said sure he was going to need it.

Caesar looked down at his phone and he was sure that OCean was back home, at least that's what he heard.

He had gone by her house several times but he knew her parents would never let them talk. Since he found out about his mother he had felt like shit realizing that the boy with blue ocean eyes had to be their son, a son he denied and had only taken one look at.

Sober Caesar could only acknowledge the truth, he was a terrible person but he wanted to be better, he was trying to be better.

Caesar was confident until he got closer to her home.

He felt like the young man who depended on her, who had waited on her and had also been disappointed by her.

Before he could hit their estate he pulled over on the side of the road.

He had been so sure but started to get cold feet at the thought of speaking to her.

Caesar left the truck running at he looked at their house ahead down the road.

He wasn't entirely sure how long he had been there for but noticed a car approaching before it pulled over.

"Fuck." He said sure that even though her father was no longer the mayor he had security still.
