"Why not just say you're mixed?" Eden asked as she walked around Caesar's office.
"Why do I need to?" He asked looking at her.
She hated that he answered her with a question instead of answering it.
Kold would have simply just told her.
Eden pressed her lips together.
She had a bad habit of comparing men to Kold.
It was the only man who had value outside of her son.
After all these years she had yet to figure out how to stop doing that.
Eden folded her arms and Caesar looked at her.
"I didn't know my mother growing up but my grandmother remained in my life." He said and she looked confused.
He motioned for her to take a seat.
"My father hid the fact my mother was black. I found out shortly after my divorce." He said as she got seated.
"Oh." She said surprised.
"My family saw my struggle and brought me home. I didn't stay long but they gave me more than enough love. Love I didn't have growing up." He said looking at her.
She could see his blue eyes glistening with sincerity.
"It took me a lot of growth and honestly I'm still figuring me out." He admitted.
"You wanted to know me and this is all the good, the only good I have so I protect it. I tried to keep them at a distance but there here." He smiled.
He would have never thought he would have experienced such a gesture but it was one that left his heart full and content.
"There is a whole lotta bad." He said and she smirked.
"What?" He said noticing her.
"your accent, I can hear it." She said and he smiled.
"Good down south boy." He said and she stared.
"To put it all out on the table I am a recovering addict. I will always be in recovery because addiction doesn't just stop. But we all have our vices." He said and she had heard that same statement from her sister years ago.
"My ex-wife is also a recovering addict so she tries to make my life a living hell, no I don't beat women and no I have never hit her. I have restained her." He said and Eden looked.
"Uhm-" She tried to interject and he continued.
"My father is without a doubt a racist and so is my grandfather. My sister" He shrugged.
"Not so much." He said and Eden laughed.
"What is not so much?" She asked curiously.
Caesar thought it was much easier to talk to her when she smiled versus the scowl she held.
"She isn't racist but a lot of undertones." He said and Eden twisted her lips.
"A lot of bad comes with me but you've seen my best part." He said and she nodded.
"And Ocean?" Eden asked because she was curious and he smirked.
"My first love. The woman who captured my heart and holds it." He said and she looked at him and she could see the love in his eyes let alone how he spoke of her.
"she is the mother to my firstborn. You'll meet Hana she is Ujin's mom and hopefully you'll never meet Mila." He said.
"I hate to admit it but she is also my family but part of the not-good side." He said and Eden smirked.
