"King." A voice called out.
King looked around seeing who called his name.
He didn't see anyone as he took a seat on the bench out front.
"King." He heard it again as he looked around.
Just as he stood up he heard his name again.
"Hey, Nephew." King turned to see a chocolate woman waving at him.
Something about her seemed familiar.
He was sure he had never seen her a day in his life but he found himself curious and walking over as he looked at her.
"Nephew?" King asked and the woman nodded.
She same skin tone as him. Their smile was similar and even their head shape. The woman was pretty and her smile was pretty too, the worst thing about it was that it hide her devious thoughts.
"I'm Kima your dad's sister." Kima said leaning down.
"My dad's sister?" He repeated looking into her eyes and she nodded again.
"Boy, do you look like him, wit ya momma's eyes tho." She said standing up and looking down at him.
King knew adults did that but the way she did it made him feel uncomfortable.
He glanced over and realized his mother hadn't arrived.
"I can take you home." Kima offered and he looked at her.
"You know where I live?" He asked.
Before he could ask anything else another woman rushed out and grabbed him wrapping her arms around him.
"Grandma's baby!" Pam said rocking King to her chest as if they were familiar.
"Let me go." He said loudly and she looked at him putting him down as others started to turn their way.
"You don't remember gramma baby?" She asked and before he could respond his arm was tugged back.
King looked back and saw it was Zachary.
"Leave him alone." He said firmly.
Zachary turned back to King.
"Do you know them?" He asked concerned and King shook his head.
"They said- she's my aunt and her my gramma." King pointed Zachary didn't trust the women and pulled King by his arm back to the school.
"You gotta be careful." He said loudly.
"And who are you?" Pam said grabbing the little boy's shoulder.
"I don't know you and you not his granny." He said sure of it.
This was because after King announced his father's death he had said more. While the two were chatting away from their mothers he mentioned it as just the two of them. Zachary had told him about his brothers, his mother's family and his father's family and King only had his mother, whom he knew for sure because he told him.
Days later when they were on the TV Ocean told Zachary that his father was famous just like his except he was killed..
Zachary had decided then that King wasn't his brother by blood, maybe by looks but without a doubt because he chose him.
"And how would you know that?" Pam said actually arguing with a 10-year-old.
Zachary said the only thing that he could think of, the same thing that was on tv.
"Because that's my brother and all he has is his momma." Zachary said moving her arm off of him and putting his arm around King.
"And me." He said with his chest.
