"Are you okay?" Marcus asked and Caesar nodded.
He glanced at his family in the living room all shaking their heads at the tv and its latest news.
"I'm good." Caesar said before heading into the kitchen.
"You knew this was going to happen?" Marcus said looking at how casual his cousin was acting.
"Eventually, I actually expected a little bit sooner." Caesar admitted.
Palmer had made it in time to stop the news from being leaked but Caesar let it go.
As desperate as it sounded it was for Eden.
It was obvious she hated him. The only thing that garnered him any sympathy was the cancer card. He knew it was petty but it was the only thing he had so he figured he would lay in on it.
He had been embarrassed by much worse things and he figured it would give him a breath of fresh air from having to worry about it constantly being leaked.
"But like my ex-doctor said, things are looking up." Caesar said and Marcus looked.
"It was him? Can't he loses his job and shit?" Marcus asked and he nodded.
"Yea apparently it was blackmail but now I feel-" Caesar paused and Cannon walked into the kitchen.
"Worry-free." Cannon finished for him and the two men looked to their grandfather.
"You know I used to think you hid us cause we was black." Cannon said and Marcus tried not to laugh at their blunt grandfather.
"But you are actually private. Ya momma was that way too." He admitted and Caesar looked.
It was the first time since meeting him he spoke so casually about his mother.
"Sometimes we hold the most precious things so close and try to guard them when it might be a whole lotta less weight with everything out in the open." He said to him with a smile.
He walked over to the microwave.
"We noticed you slept in late so ya granny, like always put you up a plate." He said taking off the cover and leaving it open.
Cannon walked out of the kitchen with his cane casually.
Caesar had to admit the old man had grown on him.
"You know granddaddy gave me plain grits for a whole summer cause I acted bad, I was 8. And he got tha nerve to save you a plate and point it out." Marcus joked as he gently shoved Caesar towards the microwave.
"You're up." Ocean walked into the kitchen joining the men.
She was breathtakingly beautiful.
Ocean had cut her long hair and now sported a short bob. Her body was in the best shape it had ever been and her dark chocolate skin glowed naturally and effortlessly. Age had only made her look even better. She was now a doctor and really Caesar missed some of it but he saw her accomplish her dreams.
The irony is that the girl of his dreams had become a woman he admired.
"So you've uh slept well?" She asked as she glanced around the house.
He could tell she was impressed.
It just so happened that every member of Caesar's family, baby mommas included had their own room.
He had a large house already but built a second house and connected it from the rear. He had enough land in the back to do so. He never thought he would fill it but here he was with a full house.
