PoV Will
Dad took me to town with him. He was the towns major, which was weird, because he didn't care about the people. He cared about the money.
Today he would open a new mall and I was to quietly stand next to him.
While he was speaking, I noticed some kids my age. They made funny faces. I chuckled slightly.
I tried really hard to muffle it though. Dad glares at me angrily. I immediately went back to looking cold and stern.
I looked at my feet. I wanted to play with the other children.
When we were home, Dad was in a good mood again, so I dared to ask: "Dad? Why can't I play with the kids from town? I don't have any friends my age."
"The town kids are dirty, William. You're better than them.", he said.
"I want to go to school.", I tried again.
"No.", he said.
"But-", I tried, but suddenly his hand collided with my face.
I looked at my feet, as he yelled: "Do not fucking argue with me, you useless brat!"
"Yes Sir.", I sniffed. Suddenly he grabbed my chin and forced me to look into his eyes. He looked so cold, it scared me.
"You aren't like them, William. You think they'd want to play with you? Look at yourself. You're a boy with blue hair. I'm just trying to protect you from getting bullied.", he said coldly.
"Do you understand?", he added.
"Yes Sir.", I sniffed.
Then he offered: "I can call Matthias. You can play with his boys."
"They don't like me...", I sighed.
"I can buy you a new book."
"I'd like that.", I said. Dad ruffled my hair a bit.
"See? No need to fight. Now, go to your room. I have work to do.", he stated.
"Yes Sir.", I said.
I went to my room and talked out of the window.
"Hey!", I suddenly heard a voice.
I almost screamed.
"No no no! Don't be scared! Over here!", I heard the voice again. I looked over at the big branch of my favorite tree. I had always wanted to climb that tree, but wasn't allowed to. No a boy was sitting on it with a friendly smile.
"Care to give me a hand? I can't quiet reach your window, pretty boy!", the boy called.
I blushed.
Did he just call me pretty?
"W-why do you wanna get in?", I asked quickly.
"To rob you, obviously! Nah, I'm just kidding. I just...the townsfolk say you have no friends? Everybody deserves a friend.", he smiled. Such a kind smile. So sincere.
I thought for a bit. Then I turned around and grabbed my magic amulet that was stored safely in a case only I could open.
"Don't freak out.", I told the boy. Then I picked him up with magic.
I put him down on my carpet.
"That was so. cool!", he cried out.
"Pssst, quiet! My dad mustn't hear you. He'd be so mad!", I said quietly.
"Oh, alright. Your Dad's a tough one, isn't he?", the boy grinned.
"You could say that. What's your name?", I asked.
"Bill. Bill Cipher. Pleasure to meet you.", he bowed a little. We started talking about books and playing with the few toys I had, until Bill had to leave and I got him back on the tree.
Bill started coming over more often. When I got a smartphone, I sneaked his number on it and we started texting. Bill was really cool. The coolest.
As I grew older, Dad started drinking more again. He also looked at me weirdly. When I was 14 he confused me for mom again. I hated it. I felt so helpless. He started doing it sober too.
I didn't tell anyone, not even Bill.
I was 16 by now and, damn, did I have feelings for Bill...
