chapter 9: misunderstanding

"morning Alexandra" i said as we all got ready to go out to the city we were currently guarding

"morning duke" she said back in response

"let's hope today is stress free" i joked

"yeah as if, when is it ever" alexandra joked back

i woke up to kai having a bad dream, she was shaking her head and mumbling something to do with bombs

i knew she struggled with sleeping because of her job, i had overheard leah telling some of the girls what kai had told her before

i didn't know really what to do, but what i did know was this was my time to prove to kai and myself that me and her could work

so instead of rushing to get Leah i decided to try and calm her down myself, teach myself how kai's brain works

"kai" i whispered as i placed a hand on her cheek, successfully stopping her from shaking her head

"kai" i said a little bit louder, leaning up to press a kiss against her forehead

she scrunched her eyes closed, i knew she could hear me... she was still in the dream but she could hear my voice

"your okay" i whispered as i placed a hand on her heart, hearing how fast it was beating

kai shot up, out of breath as she looked around, i sat up behind her and placed a gently hand on her shoulder, letting it slide up to her shoulders before softly placing my other hand on her other shoulder

slightly pulling her closer to me, while i gently massaged out the tension between her shoulders

"less" she whispered, still yet to look at me

"i'm right here, your safe" i mumbled against her shoulder, pressing a soft kiss against it, she had only slept in a sports bra and shorts.

"i'm sorry- i'm sorry i woke you up" kai whispered as she soon started to relax into my arms

"you've got nothing to be sorry for kai" i whispered back

"wanna tell me what happened in your dream?" i asked as kai now laid full onto me

"tomorrow" she whispered as i ran my hand through her hair

we had a lot to talk about tomorrow...

i groaned and turned over, thankful to see kai still asleep as the morning sun shone into her room.

i got up and closed the blinds so the sun wouldn't wake kai up, i walked over to her side of the bed and pressed a kiss against her forehead

i saw a different side of kai last night, a side i liked... a more open and vulnerable side to her

i walked out of her bedroom, allowing her to get some more sleep while i went into my bedroom and got ready for the day

once ready i made my way downstairs, leah and lotte already down there

"hello you two" i smiled at them as i walked to the coffee machine

they said morning back to me as i made myself a coffee

"how did you sleep?" i asked them both
