chapter 12: leaving unprotected

"fuck" i said as i got a message on my phone, sitting up

"what?" less said as she rubbed her hand up and down my back, we were currently laid on her bed, in each others arms

this has been the first time in two days where i've actually relaxed, since that man came and knocked on her door i've been on edge, staying over at her house to make sure she's safe and that man doesn't turn up again

"they want me back early again" i sighed as i looked back at her

"how early?"

"in a week early" i sighed shaking my head, standing up and going to her window, looking out at her neighbourhood

i'm gonna have to leave her by herself for fuck knows how long

i heard alessia stand up and make her way over to me, clearly confused as to what i was reacting so upset and worried about it as i hadn't actually told her my thoughts about this man

she placed her hands on my back before slowly sliding them down and around the front of my waist

i shrugged her off, everything getting slightly overwhelming

"kai?" she said confused

"just leave me alone alessia" i said, falling straight back into how i was before i met her

"no i won't" alessia said sternly

"why" i sighed, i just needed space

"because there is something bothering you, one minute i'm scooped up in your arms and the next your pushing me off you" alessia said

"and all i can think of why your acting like this is because your having to go back into the military, which doesn't make sense since you love your job so i know there's something else going on" alessia said, reading me like an open book

"nothing less" i lied, i'm panicking now, everything is getting way to much

i closed my eyes, begging my heart to calm down, it felt like it was going to burst out of my chest

i watched kai basically have a panic attack in front of me, her eyes were scrunched and her mind was clearly going into auto drive

i know she freaked out when i tried to give her physical contact a few minutes ago but i don't think there is any other way i could get her to listen to me

i slowly stood in front of her and placed my hand on her cheek, lowering her head so she was looking at me

she opened her eyes, panic seeping through them, she was looking at me but not really taking me in

her eyes wouldn't focus on me, constantly shifting looking at my different facial features

"hey" i said softly trying to get eye contact with her

i placed my other hand on her heart

"your okay" i whispered encouragement, hoping she'd calm down

she seemed to finally hear and process that, immediately shoving her head into my neck, grasping onto me like i was going to disappear

"i've got you kai" i said pressing a kiss against the side of her forehead

"i can't leave you alessia" she mumbled into my neck making me confused, of course she could...

i've never met such a clingy girl in my life, but i love it
