chapter 17: me and you

i laid studying kai's facial expressions as she slept besides me, she looked different.

obviously she has caught a tan out there but that wasn't what i was on about.

she seemed more relaxed, her face wasn't as tense as it normally was

this was the most relaxed i've seen kai look and maybe just possibly it was because she didn't have the stress or worry off her job weighing her down.

kai groaned and pulled me closer against her body, i moved my head back to her neck, resting my head against it

"less" she whispered as she started to
slowly wake up

"kai" i said back

i saw her smile slowly start to appear, she rolled us over so she was laying on top of me, resting her head against my shoulder

"i've missed this" she mumbled as she pressed a soft kiss against my neck

"me too kai" i said as i moved my hand to her back, running it up and down it

"never again" she whispered, sighing contentedly

"never again" i whispered back as i pressed a kiss to the side of her forehead

kai was still tired, so it was no surprise when she fell back asleep not long after saying that

i was just happy to have her in my arms, even if she was sleeping and i would have to look up at the roof for another few hours, as long as i was with her i didn't mind...

there was this new spark in kais eyes, she was finally free, she could put everything behind her

she was stress free and didn't have a worry in the world.

she was a lot more loving towards me, wanting me around her a lot more, constantly having some part of her body touching mine.

"so how does it feel?" beth asked as we all sat at a table, currently out for a coffee and catch up

"it feel good, i've never felt so relaxed" kai laughed, not going into much detail as that was how she was, she always has been this way...you would be shocked if she went into so much detail about how she was feeling, she struggles to describe her feelings to me never mind people around her who she's only friends with.

i felt her hand creep into my lap, pulling my hand into hers as she ran her thumb up and down the back of my hand and squeezing it every now and then

there she goes again with the physical touch, i wasn't complaining... im loving every single minute of it

the way she looks at me, like im the only girl in the world, the way her pupils get bigger when she looks at me, the way her breaths hitch when ever she gets nervous or feels butterflies in her stomach.

that's what brought me security, ever since her chat with my mum i had felt a little bit nervous about our relationship, what if she realised that she didn't want to quit the military and went back and broke up with me?

i knew now that she wouldn't, all theses little signs of love she's showing me reassuring me once again

"less" kai said squeezing my hand bringing my attention back to the table

"sorry sorry what did you say?" i asked vic

"how's gio?" vic asked

"yeah he's good, he's found a job in australia now... worried he's gonna stay there forever now" i laughed
