Chapter 25: Pushing

it was clear from the day that her dad turned up that kai was out to prove to anyone and everyone she was the complete opposite of her dad.

it upset me to see her be like this, she was starting to get closed off with me

not showing that vulnerability she had shown me time and time again

i'd ask if she was okay and she'd just reply with 'i'm fine' or a simple hum and a nod of her head

i knew i'd have to let her work through it by herself, not completely but mostly take control of the situation herself

if i just kept repeating the same sentence 'you're nothing like you're dad' over and over again she wouldn't believe me

she'd just think i'm saying it for the sake of it

she's an over thinker and anything she can overthink she will

i needed to be there for her but also not there for her as well, so she felt in control- if that makes any sense.

i turned over in bed, reaching out for kai only to be hit with her side of the mattress

i sighed as i opened my eyes and got out of bed, knowing where she would be

i walked into the kitchen and saw her at the stove making some breakfast, her arsenal kit on ready for her training later

she didn't need to be up at this time, we had planned for a lay in together as she had a later training session today- but i guess that's not how kais mind has been working recently

i walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her waist, resting my head against her back

"morning" i mumbled into her t-shirt

"morning" kai said back, as she let her hand slip over mine for a few seconds before pulling it away

"why did you pull you're hand away?" i asked, this was the kind of thing i was on about, she was being closed off with me as well as not touching me as much as she did before

"just need to stir this alessia that's all" she said softly

i peered over her shoulder and saw there was nothing to mix.

i kept up my happy demeanour, acting as if nothing was happening so she could feel in control of what's going on in her head

"when you leaving for training" i asked as i stepped away from her and leaned against the counter next to her

"soon, i texted the coach and asked if we could start early" kai said as she turned her head to face me

"what happened to our relaxing morning?" i asked, a little upset about her planning change

she walked over to me, cupping my cheek and pulling me into a quick peck

i could literally feel how she had to force herself to kiss me, i swallowed back the lump in my throat allowing her to continue being in control

"when i get back i'm all yours" she said, i knew she was saying what she thought i wanted to her

i knew once she got home she'd do anything but relax with me but i had to agree with her

"okay" i hummed as i leaned in and pressed another kiss against her lips, she squeezed my hips and pulled away from me, making her way back over to the stove again
