Taylor's POV:
"I'll have someone
come for the ultrasound." Dr. Gordon assures before leaving the room. I simply nod in response."I'm scared..." I admit to Jim, who is quickly rushing to my side.
"I know you are, but it's gonna be okay, try to be positive. Do you need me to call anyone? Mister Alwyn?" Jim wants to know.
"No, please don't." I mumble quietly. "I already called my best friend. She's flying over from LA."
"Alright."
Once again the door is opened and an unfamilar woman enters to room.
"Hi, I'm Dr. Brooks, I'm a GYN. I 'd like to run an ultrasound. We need to go to another room for that though. Are you okay getting in the wheelchair?""I guess." I reply with a numb expression on my face and tell Jim to stay right here.
We head to a room down the hall and she orders me to lie down.
"I 'm going to check out the baby now okay? It's gonna be a little cold." The woman warns and squeezes some gel on the tip of the wand she's holding in her hand. Then she carefully places it on my stomach. I 'd be lying if I said my heart wasn't racing on full speed. My hands are shaky and I have a hard time holding back my tears while trying to read the doctor's face, but her expression is blank, the whole time.
"Okay, we're gonna have to wait for the blood test results. I'm gonna take you up to Radiology for your X-Ray." Is all she says after turning off the screen and handing me some tissues to wipe the gel off my belly.
"Is my baby okay?" I want to know from her, the tears now escaping.
"We'll know more after the results."
I take a deep breath, not wanting to hyperventilate, even if staying calm is quite a difficult task right now.
The X-Ray is done quickly and I'm being brought back to the room, in which my driver is still waiting for me.
"And?" He immediately asks. "Well only if you're comfortable to share." He quickly adds.
"They haven't said anything yet." I shrug, before wiping a tear off my cheek.
We wait an eternity, before Dr. Gordon finally comes back. An eternity of worrying, crying, even screaming.
I quickly sit up as I try to read his face."I got all your results." The man begins. "The X-Ray revealed that you've got three broken ri-"
"I DON'T FUCKING CARE. WHAT ABOUT MY BABY?!" I shout, seeming to lose my temper completely. "Sorry." I whisper quickly, my eyes on the ground. "I didn't mean to snap, it's just...nobody has said ANYTHING to me, I can't handle the unknown anymore..."
He gives me an understanding look before continuing.
"It seems like you have something called placental abruption. Which means your placenta has detached from the wall of the uterus. Concluding in a lack of oxygen and nutrients for the baby...It's likely related to the fall."
I feel my heart stop. A shiver runs down my spine while the continuous tears are staring to blurry my sight. I honestly feel like passing out.
"However, the damage to the baby seems to be minimal, at least right now. We don't know which complications might arise when you have given birth, such as a low birth weight of your child, but also brain damage is possible. For now she is fine, but I'd like to keep you over night for observation. You can go home tomorrow but from then on you're on strict bed rest and regular check ups, once a week, are highly
recommended. Given the accident, it could have gone much worse." He points out and I don't think I've ever felt more relieved. The tears now streaming down my face are definitely happy tears. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I manage to form a smile. Thank god. I just hope little one pulls through."So...wait...did you say 'she' ?" I ask confused only now recognizing the pronouns he used.
"Oh you didn't know...I'm sorry...but yes, you're having a little girl. Congratulations."
I cover my mouth with one of my hands.
"No way, oh my god..." My voice chimes, muffled because of my hand. "A baby girl!"
I always dreamed of having a daughter when I was little. I was scared I wouldn't know how to handle a boy since my brother was a real pain in the ass, well he still is but we get along, I guess."And Miss Swift back to you...you got three broken ribs and a slight concussion. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about that, the breaks need to heal on their own, but I'll prescribe you some pain meds once you are released."
"Thank you so much!" I extend my hand and he reaches to shake it.
"Just doing my job. Be careful with those stairs at home."
Suddenly my mood drops as I remember exactly what happened, that it wasn't my clumsiness but my boyfriend who pushed my down the stairs.
I just nod absentmindedly."I'll get a proper room for the night ready for you." And with that he exits through the door. Jim seems to have noticed my sudden change of emotions.
"Is something wrong? Aren't you glad?"
"I am, of course I am, don't worry." I force a smile.
"When will Blake be here?" The driver wants to know.
"Tonight, around 7, I assume." I tell him.
"Are you okay to be alone for a few hours?"
"Absolutely. Thank you so much, Jimmy. You saved my life, honestly!" I offer him a hug, which he gladly returns. "And hers!" I point to my little bump.
"Anytime."
Half an hour later I'm in some room with a proper bed, a TV and basically everything one needs. They never treated my any different here but looking around in this room - they must know I'm Taylor Swift. It looks quite classy.
They also gave me some clothes to change into since mine were soaked in blood.
My stomach still hurts, and my ribs, but it's nothing I can't handle."I love you." I whisper after leaning over my own belly. "I always will."
Finally resting in a bed, I pull out my phone.
7 missed calls from Joe❤️
23 unread messages from Joe❤️Joe❤️: Where the hell are you?!
Joe❤️: Come home! Now!
Joe❤️: I swear I'm gonna kill you!
My lock screen only shows the last three messages but they're enough to send me into panic. What am I supposed to tell him?
A/N:
Hii, I really played with the thought of letting her have a miscarriage but I decided against it, since it would have ruined the plot I already have in mind. I hope you enjoyed this chapter!!!
Also I'm not a doctor...Dr. Google was my best friend for this chapter :))Is there anything you would like me to include in the story? I'm open for any suggestions!!
