TW: mentions of ED

Taylor's POV:

"I'm so sorry for calling in the middle of the night...I-it's just...I-I don't know...I need someone to talk to." I try to explain while stifling my sobs.

"You don't need to apologize, I'll gladly listen and try to help. What happened? Are you at home?" The man wants to know.

"Yeah, I-I...got home a like two hours ago. I didn't mean to wake up...I-I-I...I just needed to hear your voice. I c-can't explain it." In the vulnerable state I'm in, I just speak honestly.

"It's okay. Do you want to talk about what happened or why you're crying?"

"Not really. You can go back to sleep if you want. Thank you for picking up." I lay down in bed, the phone pressed against my ear, the tears still rolling down my cheeks.

"I don't want to go back to sleep. I wanna help you. Is there anything I can do?" He asks, sounding worried.

"I guess just distract me, tell me whatever." I sniffle before slowly closing my eyes as Travis starts talking about his football team and all the successes they've had so far.
Laying there in the darkness of my room, I take in his soothing voice, which eventually leads me into a well-deserved sleep.

Travis' POV:

"Taylor? You still there?" I ask when I haven't gotten a humming response in quite a few minutes. "Taylor?"
Soon I recognize her regular breathing through the line and I can't help but smile a little. She really did fall asleep to my rambling.

"Sweet dreams, Tay. Goodnight." I whisper, then end the call. However, I can't help but wonder what made her feel the way she did? Who or what made her cry in the middle of the night?
Feeling wide awake I roll out of bed and slip down the stairs to get a glass of water, quickly noticing that the woman's scent still lingers in the air of my living room. I let out a sigh, knowing that I adore the singer even more now that I've met her in person.
I really hope I'll get the chance to see her again.

Taylor's POV:

It's early when I wake up the next day, assuming that everybody else is still awake, I quietly walk down the stairs to find my parents and Hailey already gathered around the table, a colorful breakfast ready to be eaten.

"Good morning, sweetheart. Did you sleep okay?" My mom smiles, before handing me a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

"Did you put milk or sugar in there?" I can't help but ask.

"Um...no, nothing yet. What do you want in?"

"Just black is fine, thanks." I take a small sip of the warm beverage. "I slept okay."

Quickly I walk around the table, put down the cup and lift my daughter out of her highchair.

"Now we have time for a proper 'Hello'. Did you have a good night? Oh I missed you so much, munchkin." I press her tightly to my chest, before placing a kiss on her head. "You were such a brave girl staying with grandma and grandpa!"

"Come on, let's eat. I used my best skills for that breakfast!" My father chimes in and I place my daughter back in her chair. "Is Blake still asleep?"

My heart stings at that question and I quietly clear my throat.

"No actually...she left last night." I reveal to the adults. "She had something come up." I quickly add.

After we have all taken our seats, my dad speaks up once again.

"That sucks. What you wanna eat, Taylor? Scrambled eggs? I made them just the way you like'em." The man offers a beaming grin while attempting to load my plate, but I gently stop him.

"I really appreciate the breakfast, Dad. But I'm not really that hungry..."

"Taylor..." My mom sighs.

"What?"

"Please eat something. Don't think we haven't noticed...We don't wanna go down that road any further..."

"Mom...I'm just not hungry, okay?" I repeat and draw my attention to Hailey, who is happily munching on a piece of bread.

"Mommy! Yummy!" The girl laughs and holds out her half-eaten bread.

"Yes, princess. It's yours. Keep eating it, okay? That way you'll become strong and healthy."

"The same applies to you, honey." My father says, loading my plate against my will.

"I'm not gonna eat it." I push the plate slightly away.

"You are." My mom replies with a stern voice, before pushing the plate back in front of me.

"You can't make me."

"Oh I can. Do you want me to tell Tree? Have her cancel the rest of your tour? It's only matter of time until you break down on stage if you keep going like that."

"No, I don't want you to tell her." I mumble and stare down at the food in front of me.
I can just throw it up afterwards, right?
Carefully I take the fork and pick up some of the eggs, before slowly lifting it to my mouth, while calculating the calories in my head.

The rest of the breakfast goes by rather quiet and I have no choice than to eat up my plate and then head straight to the bathroom. Nobody knows I've ever used this technique, not even back in 2015, so my parents obviously don't stop me when I excuse myself to use the bathroom.

It's 1pm when the two stand in the hallway, suitcases packed, ready to head back to Nashville.

"I have a bad feeling. You're clearly struggling. Please eat regularly, Tay." My mom says before pulling me into a hug.

"I'll be fine. I'll see you guys next weekend in Denver, yeah?"

"Take care, honey." My dad envelopes me in an embrace once my mom has let go of me.
They say goodbye to Hailey and no seconds later they're out of the door.
I set my daughter down on the carpet in the living room and hand her a some books and toys to play with, before pulling out my phone and sending a message to Blake. I need to fix what I've broken.

Me: Hey B, I'm so sorry for everything I've said

Me: Hey B, I'm so sorry for everything I've said. It's just so hard you know? I'm not ready to get better. I'm not ready to open up. It's difficult. I know you just want to help. I just hope I didn't screw up our friendship. I'm sorry, I love you <3

Despite feeling a little ashamed for having called Travis last night, I open his chat next and type a quick text.

Me: Hii, again my deepest apologies for waking you up last night. I hope you still got a few hours of good sleep. I guess I was just overwhelmed and you were the first person to come to my mind. What are you up to today?"

A/N: This is a filler chapter, nothing exciting 🤷🏽‍♀️I'm planning to do a little time jump soon
