{55} stuck in my mind

Taylor's POV:

"Where have you been this afternoon? I knocked on your door but you weren't there." My publicist asks as soon as we settle on the jet, ready to head back to New York.

"I was...just in the wellness area..." I quickly come up with a lie, but Tree shoots me an unimpressed look.

"Of course you were." She responds sarcastically. "I just hope you took security with you."

"Y-yeah, I wouldn't dare going anywhere without them..."

Declaring the quick exchange as finished, I take out my Airpods and slip them into my ears, turning up the volume of my go-to spotify playlist, before searching my bag for my notebook.

Travis is stuck in my head, even if I haven't dared to text him since I left his house earlier. It's weird having my mind occupied with other thoughts than usual, it's strange and it's kind of frightening, but I just can't get him out of my head, the way his eyes were sparkling and the way his voice sounded like the sweetest melody I've ever heard.

I take out a pen and start scribbling down some lyrics, because that's just how my brain works, I turn thoughts and feelings into lyrics and eventually songs.
The words come easy and after half an hour I stare at the once blank page that is now covered in ink, displaying about half a song.

first verse

"Stop, don't knock.
Slow down, stay locked.
No, give in, it could be a win.

But what if he is just like him?
I recall, the lights were dim and then he reached straight for my hand.
I was to follow his commands.
And if I failed, his anger won, a burning red,
chances high, I'd end up dead.

chorus

Right here, right now.
Just be brave, don't bow down.

Come on, come on, just be the one.
A knight in shining armor,
a prince, a king, a gentleman,
just one who'd never dare to harm her."

Quite satisfied with the outcome, I close the notebook and put it back where it belongs, before closing my eyes, trying to get some sleep, since this morning's hangover hasn't completely washed off, even if I feel a lot better.
As soon as I shut my eyes, all I see is the handsome man, right before my eyes, who treated me with such respect and kindness it's hard to forget.
Determined and without a second thought, I pull out my phone and send him a message, it's simple but will hopefully calm my racing heart.

Me: Hey, I'm on my way back to New York now, thought I'd let you know :)

I lock the screen and attempt to place the device on the table in front of me, when a new notification pops up.

Travis Kelce: That sounds good! Have a safe flight and make sure your jet doesn't disturb the birds on their way to...wherever ;)

I don't recognize the smile tugging at my lips while reading his response. I don't recognize the way my eyes light up. The only thing I recognize is the little jump my heart just made.
I'm screwed.

Unlocking the door and silently stepping inside the safety of my own house, I'm immediately greeted by my parents who are comfortably sitting on the couch, watching some Rom-Com. It takes a moment for them to realize that I arrived but as soon as they do, they get up and pull me into a hug, one after the other.

"How was Kansas, darling?" My mom wants to know. "The shows were incredible, we watched some livestreams."

"Yeah it was great, something different..." I offer them a tired smile. "I missed you there though and Hailey of course. Is she okay? Is she asleep? Has the weekend been okay? Did she eat well?" I switch into full mom mode.

"Everything has been alright, you don't need to worry. Today has been a little rough, she was quite whiny, I assume she missed you, but we got her to sleep by 8:30 and she has been sleeping since." My dad tries to answer all of my questions, while I'm glancing at the time. It's almost midnight. Suddenly I sense another figure entering the living room. "Oh I forgot to mention, Blake's here." He points to the woman approaching us.

"Blake! What are you doing here?!" I shout out with a surprised look on my face, before enveloping my best friend in needed hug, instantly feeling guilty as I haven't really been keeping up regular contact in a quite some time. I called less, I texted less and the last time I really saw her in person was on Hailey's Birthday, the day on which the woman discovered my self-harm scars. She and her kids attended one of my shows in Philadelphia though, back in May, but time was short and we didn't really get to talk. It's now July.

"I thought I'd surprise you. I have some time off work and Ryan has been begging for some daddy-daughters time, so here I am." The blonde reveals.

"We'll leave you to it. Goodnight, honey, love you. And goodnight, Blake." My mother interrupts.

"Goodnight you two." My father adds.

"Goodnight Mom and Dad, love you too."

"Goodnight, Andrea. Goodnight, Scott. Thanks for letting me in."

As soon as my parents disappeared upstairs, the actress drags me to the sofa and instructs me to sit down.

"We need to talk, Tay."

Don't ask about those lyrics, I just tried 😂 I'm obviously not Taylor Swift, hell, I'm not a songwriter, god I can't even read notes...

A little heads up to avoid any confusion later on: In this story Blake doesn't have a forth child. I would've needed to mention her pregnancy in earlier chapters but I simply forgot  and I don't wanna make things complicated now :)
