" How is he doing ? " I ask the veterinarian with a worried frown

" He is doing way better now miss Diaz "

" Do you think he'll be ready for the competition? "

" The competition? " He asks, surprised

" You know, Rio is one of our best horses Mr Mendez and he also loves to compete and run, I thought...he would've liked to participate in the next horses race competition "

" I know miss Diaz, but Rio needs to rest and to fully recover, you don't want to take the risk to get him injured again right? "

I bite my lower lip and shake my head negatively

He smiles at me

" That's right, but don't worry, I'm pretty sure he'll be ready for the next competition "

I nod

" Thank you doctor "

He packs his stuff

" See you next week Rio " he says to the black horse while caressing its forehead

This one dodges the veterinarian's touch and walks backwards

I smile slightly

This horse is such a grumpy and he hates physical touches

He only tolerates me

" Well, see you next week Miss Diaz, take care of Rio "

" I will...please Dimitri, take the doctor to the exit " I ask one of the staff members

" Yes Miss, please follow me doctor "

I look at the two men leaving, then I focus my attention back on the horse, now eating the hay peacefully

" Really Rio? Shame on you for scaring everyone like that "

He makes a " I don't give a fuck " bray while minding his business

I laugh softly, amused

" You're insufferable ! "

I caress his muzzle softly

" But I'm glad you're okay, you scared me biggie "

I walk towards my office

" Barbara, can you please take care of the club registrations for this evening? I'm having dinner with Fabian..."

" Yes ma'am "

“Consult the application files, send me the selected profiles and contact them so that they can choose their course schedule”

" Yes Miss "

I grab my bag and walk outside the office, my house and my office are literally in the equestrian club as well

But I have to walk a whole ten minutes to get to my house, when I'm not in the mood to walk I just take a golf cart

I want to take a good and long bath before I go to the dinner at my brother's place

Fabian , his wife and my nephew are my family in LA, and the rest of our family is living in Mexico, where we grew up...and I also have one brother living in Europe

I only see them like three or four times in a year...

We're all so busy with our own activities and we only meet on holidays or some anniversaries

Mom and Dad come to visit Fabian and I sometimes, but they don't stay for long, all their businesses are based in Monterrey in Mexico, where I was born and grew up with my five brothers
