71. A Fresh Start

Matteo woke up to Wanda caressing the boys cheek. "Matteoo. Come on baby. It's time to wake up." The boy heard Wanda's voice. The tween did a little whine before he soon opened his eyes to meet Wanda's matching forest green eyes. "There's baby Teo." Wanda said with a smile. Matteo soon yawned as he soon sat up and did a small stretch. Wanda looked at the boy before she got up from the side of the bed, she then went over to the boys side and ruffled his hair. For some reason as he got up and heard Wanda waking him up, he had a small memory of their mother. But this felt like Deja Vu to him, but he couldn't remember his mother's face so he just stuck with Wanda.

"Okay stink. Let's get you ready for school. I'll be in the kitchen making breakfast." Wanda said before she soon left the room. "Okay mama" Matteo responded before he soon got out of bed. The boy did a big stretch before he soon looked over to see his school uniform hanging from the closet. The boy took a deep breath before he went over and grabbed his uniform.

Right as Matteo put on his uniform he looked at himself in the mirror and tilted his head. He was wearing a white polo shirt that had the school logo in the corner, along with some blue pants on. He soon looked over to see the blue and red polo shirts along with khaki pants, along with some blue and khaki shorts. Once he knew he was ready he went ahead and walked out to Wanda who just got done with breakfast.

"Awe. Look at you. All ready for 6th grade." She stated as she walked over and kissed the boys cheeks. "Mom! Really???" Matteo whined out with a smile on his face. "Don't you Really me. I'm just glad you're going to have a second chance at school! Pietro would be so proud." She said with a smile. Matteo smiled at her before he frowned a bit, but he soon did a small smile "mama and papa too." He said. Wanda couldn't help but smile sadly "yeah. Them too. But hey. You'll get to see your new friends and make even more! This school is small. Plus I'll meet you after school and we can walk home together. Alright?" She said before she went over and fixed the boys short hair. "Yeah!" He said happily.

Wanda smiled before she nodded "okay. Well let's get food in that stomach." She stated before she soon sat down at the table. Matteo nodded his head before he went over and sat down next to her. Once he sat down he began to eat his waffles that Wanda made. The duo then sat in peace while they ate their breakfast.

When they were done, Matteo went over and started to put his shoes on. As he did so Wanda was getting his backpack ready. "Okay everything is in your bag. I also put your bagged lunch in there too. Like I said if you need me or need me to pick you up. Just go to Ms Jones and she'll call me." Wanda stated. Matteo nodded his head "yeah! I know. I know what to do." Matteo said. Wanda sighed before she walked over to him handing him his bag. "Okay. Well go to the office so they can give you your schedule when you get there." Wanda said. Matteo looked at Wanda before he nodded. "Okay mama. I will." He said before he gave her a reassuring smile. Wanda smiled and nodded "okay. Well you better get going then. Don't want you late now do we?" Wanda stated before she opened the door. Matteo nodded his head as he soon walked out of the door and soon started to make his way to the town. "I love you! I'll see you after school!!" Wanda yelled out. Matteo smiled at her "Love you too!! See you later!" He yelled out before coughing from the lack of talking. Wanda shook her head before she sighed, she then went ahead and walked back inside.

As Matteo was walking through the pathway him and Wanda took yesterday, the boy couldn't help but look around the forest. As he walked he soon seen the town from afar, the boy went ahead and continued to walk with both hands on his backpack straps.

Right as he made it into the town, he noticed a group of kids in their uniform walking towards the school. The boy took a deep breath before he soon followed them. He couldn't help but feel very anxious as he started to walk towards the entrance of the school. As he made it in the school he looked around to find the office. Sure he was just here yesterday but he forgot where to go.
