We were on the beach in Brela, having spent a few days enjoying the sun and the Adriatic Sea. Brela was a piece of paradise, with its crystal-clear waters and fine white sand. We spent most of our time together, holding hands, walking along the shore, swimming, laughing, and whispering dreams to the wind.
Nika's family beach house was cozy and full of life. Her mother was a warm woman, with eyes that sparkled with wisdom and a smile always at the ready. She prepared delicious meals for us, full of Mediterranean flavors I had never experienced before. Her father was more reserved, but no less kind. I remember one afternoon when he took us on a boat trip. That day was magical. We anchored near a small island where we swam and snorkeled. Nika and I found a small coral reef and spent hours exploring together, our hands intertwined even underwater.
