Arc 6 Chapter 40: More Than Anything

Fan was removing the fireballs that were smashed inside the hotel. As he did, Lightbulb sat on the couch, thinking about everything Cobs told her.

"Lightbulb, don't listen to a word he said. It was all bullshit." Test Tube comforted her.

"I know, it's just... I thought he would listen for once. But he didn't... Again."

"Who cares what he said? Look around." Fan came over & lifted her head up.

Lightbulb looked around the hotel, seeing everyone smiling at her.

"You have a hotel filled with great people & friends, who believe in you. & once we stay in this hotel, we give you our trust."

"That's right." Test Tube agreed.

Lightbulb thought about it more. They were right. Everyone was happy, always had a great time, maybe... It will work.

"Thanks, you two. Thank you everyone." She smiled.

Fan & Test Tube smiled back. However, the smiles faded once Cobs entered back in the room.

"You see? This is exactly what I was talking about, Lightbulb. You build something nice, you invite people in & offer them everything, & they just bring violence & chaos to your doorstep. It doesn't matter how well intended you are, they're always going to disappoint you. Just like I said, eliminated contestants are violent, psychopaths, hell bent on causing as much pain & destruction as they can. There's really no point in trying." Cobs laughed a little.

Paintbrush, Yang, Bow & Bot felt really offended & understood what Fan & Test Tube meant. He is an asshole.

"If you meant what happened during the attack, he was defending this hotel!" Test Tube pointed at Fan.

"Ooh, drama." Paintbrush took out a bag of popcorn & offered some to Yang, Bow & Bot as they watched & ate.

"He was doing it for us. How come we, your daughter's friends, have faith in her but her own father can't?" She glared at Steve.

"Test Tube." Lightbulb stopped her.

Cobs glared at her, disgusted that he was told off by an eliminated contestant.

"Excuse me? Who raised you to talk absolute shit to-"

"DAD!" Lightbulb stopped him from continuing.

Everyone stayed silent. Lightbulb stood up & walked up to him.

"This is my last chance." She thought to herself, & then, she sang.

...

"When I was young, I didn't really know you at all, I always felt so small."

A young Lightbulb was peeking through a door, looking in a room. Her father was in the room, talking to some objects. She opened the door a bit & walked inside. Cobs looked at her a bit & said nothing, as he was more focused on his meeting.

Before she could reach her father, the Cherries ran inside & stopped her as they held her hand & led her out the room. She looked back at her father, a little upset.

The Cherries led her to a library & sat her down in a pile of blankets & pillows as they found a book & began to read to her. As they did, Lightbulb's eyes widened as she listened, smiling & laughing as they read.

"But I heard your stories & I was enthralled. The tales about their lofty dreams, I listened breathlessly, imagining it could be me."

...

"So in the end, it's the view I had of you, that showed me dreams can be worth fighting for. More than anything, more than anything!~ I need to save my people more than anything. More than anything." She finished.

Everyone smiled once she finished her song, all but Cobs, who didn't look moved one bit.

"This is my kingdom, my home. & no matter what, I will do anything to save everyone here."

Cobs stared at her in disappointment.

"What kind of daughter did I raise?"

"A great one." Fan stood next to Lightbulb, giving her a smile.

Lightbulb smiled back at him. Cobs looked at them in disgust as he walked towards the door.

"Whatever, I tried to warn you. But if you're that desperate to save a bunch of trash, you're lost."

Cobs stopped & yelled. He turned around to see N/A ripped off some of his clothes, chewing it. The others laughed as N/A flew away. Cobs glared back at the others as he slammed the door & left.

"Sorry it didn't go as planned, Lightbulb. I know how much you wanted him to listen." Test Tube apologized to her friend. "I guess you're going to have to do this on your own."

"It's okay. I just... I was just really hoping he would listen & help us, but... I'm not alone. You know why? Because I have friends who are going to help me." Lightbulb looked at her friends, who all smiled at her. She smiled back, knowing she had them by her side.

Taco was strolling through the hallway, looking through her phone & snickering.

"I got them good this time. They really thought that dangling piece of shit brought them over." She laughed a bit.

"So it was you!" A voice yelled at her.

She looked down the hall, & much to her shock, it was Test Tube & Paintbrush, glaring at her.

"Uhh... Uh... Uh-"

"You brought those thugs here to destroy the hotel & put the blame on that poor object!?"

"I mean, hey, at least you have that Blogger to yourself." Taco grinned.

Test Tube stood a bit, shock & blushing a bit. But she immediately shook it off as Paintbrush scolded Taco.

"We don't care if it was his ex-partner wanting to have some time with him."

"That wasn't a good one, Paintbrush." Test Tube shook her head.

"I tried." They shrugged.

"You pull some shit like that again, you're out of this hotel! Whether Lightbulb likes it or not! Got it?" Test Tube pointed at her

"Augh, fine." Taco walked off to her room, not really caring.

Paintbrush rested a hand on her shoulder. Test Tube took a deep breath to calm down a bit.

"Maybe I can get Fan to let her know that you're sorry."

"I would like that. Guess Yang was right, you changed a bit."

"I mean, you can still let me know when you wanna have some time screwin' & fuckin' each other." They smiled.

"Yeah, still pass." She punched them in the arm.

They laughed a bit & she smiled & giggled a little.

The next morning, Test Tube was still sleeping peacefully in her bed. As she did, Lightbulb sneaked in & watched her friend, smiling wide.

"TEST TUBE TEST TUBE TEST TUBE!" She jumped on her bed.

Test Tube woke up, startled.

"Lightbulb! What is it?" She woke up.

"So, I emailed Dream Island again to see if they would give us a second chance, & they would like us to visit them for our meeting! & they said I can bring in a plus one, who is going to be you!" Lightbulb excitedly explained to her.

Test Tube stared at her in shock. But then again, Lightbulb always gives people second chances. Even if they were shitty & terrible to her. Instead of questioning her, she went along.

"Yay..." She sarcastically celebrated.
