Everyone in the city gathered around a nearby TV store to watch the afternoon news. When the show started, two objects were smiling at the cameras. One was short & periwinkle wearing a red dress, & the other was tall & skinny wearing a blue collar shirt & tie.
"Good afternoon everyone & welcome to Channel II! I'm Liy!" said the short one.
"& I'm Tree!" said the taller one.
"Ok, outside of Inanimate City, there is a turf war raging on the west side between Wannabe Ruler: Taco & Spunky Lesbian: Marshmallow." Tree reported.
"That's right, Tree. After the recent extermination, many areas are all up for grabs. Objects all over Inanimate Island are already fighting to gain a new place." Liy reported alongside her co-worker.
"Those two seem to really want it more than anything!"
"Even tooth & nail for that area!"
"I would sure like to nail Marshmallow one day, but she's only into the ladies."
"You sure are a lipstick jackass, Tree."
Liy splashed her hot coffee on Tree, burning him real badly & laughed.
"Coming up next: we have an exclusive interview with the daughter of Inanimate Islands' own ruler, who's here to discuss her brand-new project. All after the break."
Liy looked back at Tree, still in pain from the hot coffee splashed all over him.
"SUCK IT UP TREE! YOU LITTLE-"
"& CUT!"
Behind the set at the news station, a tall green object wearing a red collar shirt along with a matching bow & black skirt helped Lightbulb shine her glass head, or tries too, as Lightbulb is too excited to stay still.
"Ok, you remember what to say?" She asked Lightbulb, who responded with full enthusiasm.
"YES! LET'S DO THIS!!!" Before she could run off, the object grabbed her & spoke to her seriously.
"Calm down. Just look at me, & I'll map it at you-"
Lightbulb interrupted her, looking & sounding really bored.
"Awww! Come on Test Tube! I know what to say. It just feels like I need to... I don't know, make things sound more exciting!"
Lightbulb went over to the food counter to eat a donut, trying to think of some ideas, & thought of the perfect one.
"How about I-"
"Sing a song about it?" Test Tube finished.
"You knew I was going to say that!" Lightbulb smiled at her friend & pokes her nose.
She hugged her best friend. Test Tube smiled for a second, but looked at her seriously once again.
"Please don't sing. This is serious."
"Well, you know, I'm better at expressing myself & my goals through song!" Lightbulb tried to convince her.
"But life isn't a musical, girl."
In disappointment at her failure to try to convince her friend, Lightbulb got another donut & ate it.
"Fine. But I have other ideas of what to say." She gave Test Tube a list of her ideas & smiled.
"The highlighted bits are the best parts!"
Test Tube read through her ideas a couple of times, only to be caught in confusion.
"It's all highlighted, & is this a drawing?"
"YES! That's the happy ending, see? Everyone's happy & smiling on Dream Island!" Lightbulb looked at the list & smiled at the drawing.
"I don't think that's simple, but please just follow the talking points we went over. & DO. NOT. SING! Got it?"
Lightbulb slumped down once again.
"Fine."
Lightbulb finished her last donut & walked over to the set to talk to Liy, who was smoking her cigarette.
"Hi, I'm Lightbulb! Nice to meet you!"
Lightbulb took out her hand, waiting for a handshake, only for Liy to continue smoking. After she finished her cigarette, she finally responded.
"I'd say it's a pleasure to meet you, but that would be a lie. You can put your hand away, I don't touch the gays, mainly trans. I have standards."
Lightbulb felt really offended, but still tried to be nice.
"So, uhhh... how's that working out for you?" Instead of a response, Liy ignored her & continued to talk trash.
"Look, my time is money, so I'll keep this short. You're not here because we wanted you here, you're here because Fries couldn't make it for his cannibal cooking segment. You might be some royal bigshot, but that doesn't mean shit to me. I'm too rich & too influential to give up line fuck about what some pansexual trans freak princess wants to advertise, so don't get cute with me honey or I will fucking kill you!"
Liy left to get herself some coffee, with Lightbulb just standing there, jaws dropped & completely offended. But again, she tried to be nice & sat down, waiting for her interview to start.
"& WE'RE LIVE!"
Liy rushed back into her seat, 'ready' to interview Lightbulb.
"& Welcome back to Channel II! & we're here with the princess of Inanimate Island herself! Now Lightbulb, tell us about this new passion project that you been insistently pestering our news station about!"
"Well..."
Yes, BFDI characters are going to be in the story, mainly because there isn't enough Inanimate Insanity characters to take all the characters slots & because some of them are for an upcoming novel (wink wink)
