Bakugou watched as Kirishima brushed his hair, following the hairbrush as the redhead ran it through his hair. Starting from the top with his black roots and down to the tip of his hair which the redhead had to hold it up in order to do so. The red in his hair had actually darken as well. Not as vibrant as when Kirishima came to the hospital now over a month ago.
"You need to get your hair done," the blond commented bluntly. Kirishima looked at it and dragged a strand of hair to really look at it.
"Usually you did it," the redhead said fondly, a small smile coming onto his face.
"Could I?" Bakugou asked. Kirishima looked at him and thought about it.
"Maybe..." he mumbled, opening the medicine cabinet and took out a bottle of crimson riot™️ red hair dye. "Actually, maybe not, we don't have enough to touch up my whole head," he explained, moving the almost empty bottle around to try and get a clear look.
Kirishima then suddenly chuckled fondly. Bakugou looked at him confusingly.
"There was a time where you hated that I dyed my hair," he said, scratching at the peeling label on the bottle but then smoothing it back out after registering he shouldn't be doing that.
"Really?" The blond asked, a little surprised.
"Yeah," Kirishima laughed. "You never liked how I styled my hair back in highschool, but hated it even more when you found out I dye my hair," he continued.
"Back then, you didn't understand why I did it," he explained. "You thought my hair was prettier down in it's natural color," Bakugou nodded and dragged his eyes down Kirishima's hair until it reached the tips.
"You definitely look nice with it down," the blond said mindlessly, dragging out a strand and letting it fall out of his hand. Kirishima smiled softly.
"Even before I told you the reason, you had insisted on helping me dye my hair," he began, looking back at the bottle of hair dye. "Told me I was doing it wrong," he chuckled.
"I wasn't, but I allowed you to do it for me," he told him. "I honestly think it was something that brought us closer," Kirishima sighed fondly, remembering every time the blond would say his hair needed some "touching up" even when only the smallest part of his roots were showing.
Maybe he just wanted to touch Kirishima's hair. Who truly knows.
Kirishima put the bottle back and closed the medicine cabinet.
"Why do you do it?" Bakugou asked. The redhead hummed in confusion. "Why do you spike and dye your hair?" The blond pointed to his own hair.
"My favorite hero had his hair like that, so I wanted to have it too," he shrugged with a smile and entered their bedroom.
"That's it!?" He shouted, coming out of the bathroom. Kirishima laughed. Bakugou had reacted the same way when he told him the first time. He turned on his phone to check his messages:
Good to know you two made up 1:59pm
And that isn't a bad theory 2:00pm
Kirishima had realized when Bakugou got some memories after seeing his scar that they were missing an aspect of the blond's memories. The bad ones. The redhead really didn't want to recommend it, but he knew his husband wouldn't be back to his full self unless he got the full image. The good and the bad.
"I was expecting some emotional, sentimental reason, but that was it?" Bakugou sat down on their bed as Kirishima messaged Midoriya back.
"It is sentimental," the redhead told him as he sent the message. "I wouldn't have become a hero if it weren't for Crimson Riot," he sat down beside the blond.
"Do you remember how I got this scar?" Kirishima pointed to the scar across his eye. Bakugou shook his head. "When I first got my quirk, I was scratching my eye," he explained, rubbing over his eye to emulate what he was saying.
"When I got-" the redhead dragged his knuckle downward in a sharp motion. "I got really scared of my quirk, I actually began to hate it," he said more softly. The blond's face softened.
He reached over and grabbed Kirishima's hand. The redhead smiled at him.
"Then I heard of Crimson Riot, he had a similar quirk and was a hero," he explained triumphantly. "That's what made me want to be a hero and start to dye my hair."
"Maybe I judged too quickly," the blond mumbled. Kirishima chuckled.
"Don't worry, you had the same reaction when I told you the first time," he told him with a laugh.
"But...I think you also were part of the reason I kept dying my hair," Kirishima sighed. The blond looked over at him for the redhead to continue. "Not only because you kept dying it for me," Kirishima brushed some hair behind his ear.
"But you also had a dangerous quirk and you were so determined to use it for good" the redhead laughed, "despite your attitude," he added through gritted teeth. Bakugou got lost in his own mind, thinking on what Kirishima just told him. He only snapped back when he felt the redhead squeeze his hand.
He looked up at him and saw that Kirishima was looking at him softly, a sweet smile on his face.
"I can understand how you can be afraid of your quirk and what it did to me," he spoke softly. "But you had lost the control you had over it and it wasn't your fault at all about what happened," Kirishima brought their conjoined hands and kissed the back of the blond's hand.
Then he placed another one. Bakugou blushed a little and laid his head on the redhead's shoulder. Kirishima heard his phone go off and he went to grab it, trying his best not to move too much so the blond's head didn't have to leave his shoulder.
Bakugou read the message he recieved.
"The junior high school?" Bakugou asked. Kirishima only shrugged one shoulder, the one Bakugou's head wasn't on.
"You and Midoriya we're childhood friends, so he knows more about this than I do," he explained.
"Really?" Bakugou asked, almost offended. He did get some of those childhood memories where Midoriya was in it, but he didn't think they were friends.
It didn't appear that way.
"Yeah," Kirishima laughed. "There was some sort of fall out though," he explained. "Neither of you ever told me what it was or what happened."
Bakugou hummed and nodded. Another message came in and the blond's eyes glazed over to look at it.
"Guess that's where we're going tomorrow," he hummed. Kirishima nodded. He turned off his phone and sighed, leaning towards his husband and relaxing himself more. The blond responded by nuzzling closer, it created a small laugh from the redhead.
Bakugou, although he didn't seem like it, was always a little cuddle bug. Even when they were already close, the blond had to snuggle closer. It was adorable, although Bakugou would argue or deny it.
"I should contact my mothers or perhaps Mitsuki to see if they could watch Kurai for however long we're there," the redhead spoke out loud, although he made no action to go and do it.
"Feels like we're bothering them with this shit," Bakugou muttered. The swear almost caught the redhead off guard as he had gotten used to the blond not saying them even though prior to this incident he was used to his husband cursing like a sailor.
"I think they're happy to spend more time with Kurai," he responded. "We were normally too busy to go and visit them," he explained. Bakugou nodded slowly. "Speaking of, I need to be heading back to work soon," Kirishima grabbed his phone back out and started messaging Fat Gum.
"Would I need to go back to work too?"
