Extolling the canopy of stars, I viewed the nocturnal night through the window of my studio. Feeling the serene emotion, I breathed to fill out my lungs as my body cells fluttered whenever the impromptu memory of the afternoon became part of my existing thoughts spinning around my mind.

Her slim hands cupped my face, her black eyes communicating her unstated emotions into mine and how could I forget the closed proximity successfully narrowing the distance with each passing second. No caps but if I ever get a chance to relive any day of my life, certainly  I will choose  today not because we were physically close but also emotionally our bond leveled up by one step. After a decade, no, almost eleven years, my heart  soothed after making my world aware of the emotions that were caged inside.

I felt my cheeks turning red and my lips spreading ear to ear reminiscing the moments with her.

An unanticipated knock alerted me of someone’s arrival in the room and my eyes shifted to watch Kavya, Vihaan, and Anubhav walking inside the studio and grabbing vacant seats to make themselves comfortable.

Glancing at the time on the table clock, my eyes stared , moving right to left figuring out the reason for their sudden arrival at this time.

“Vihaan Bhai is leaving tomorrow, why not have some gossip?” Kavya announced enthusiastically, raising and jumping back only to return to her seat.

Anubhav purposefully closed his left ear and shrugged as if he was forcefully brought here, without his wish. How do I have no doubt about it? Well, his silent  darkness certainly concealed behind his poker face.

“Avantika is bringing some coffee and tea for us,” Vihaan notified, breaking my concentration from my cousin’s face.

“Anu, you never involve yourself in chit-chats. Quite surprised to find you here.” I pointed, slightly nodding my head, pulling out the chair from the desk and pulling another  for her.

“How could I say no to” His words ceased noticing Ava marking her presence with a tray consisting of five mugs. She handed them over to us one by one and sat next to me, finding the empty chair only to see Vihaan and Kavya widening their mouths.

“What were you saying, Anubhav?” I asked him to continue but I aimed to divert the storm in the form of my best friend and her sister, as silence persisted from their side.

“Vihaan Bhaiya asked me to join so” He answered and I nodded, stretching my hand to get the mug from the table positioned in the center and our presence encircled it.
