Nicknames were often deemed as a way to address your loved ones out of admiration, or to refer to your hated ones because of their malicious acts and behavior. That's how I took this immense opportunity to give a middle name, or an additional nickname, that suited her bitchy personality.
DSSM - Delusional Skeptic SuperModel.
I saved her number to contact her when the need arises. Otherwise, I wouldn't waste my storage space on her contact details, but as the head of the investigation team, I was left with no choice.
"Avantika, I'll be back soon. It's just that I want to show my love and support to him." Her phony accent strained my ears.
"It's better you show your support by leaving my husband alone," I sighed frustratingly. "But honestly, I would like to know one thing. Don't you have self-respect?" I questioned, waiting for her response. "My husband doesn't waste his time paying you attention, let alone validating your presence. If I were you, I would rather leave than watch every day that person crushing my self-respect under his ignorance."
A plaguing laughter was her response. That wasn't even a joke that I shared to entertain her.
"Avantika, you'll never know how it feels to be a one-sided plucky lover," she stated. I rolled my eyes, striding out of the elevator.
"May God guide you to come out of your delusional bubble. You don't seem to have any work apart from poking your nose in my husband's matter." I hung up the call and brought out the keys from the front chain of the bag.
Inserting in the lock, I unlocked the main door and walked inside after rechecking the same for security reasons.
I placed my bag on the sofa and headed to the bathroom to take a quick warm shower to ease my body from weariness. I picked a baby pink camisole and a shorts set. I carried the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash along with a bathrobe.
After a while, I stepped out and reached for my section of the cupboard. Opening the same, I brought out the skin care products and it felt like I was following my routine after ages as the last twenty days were nothing but exploring new ways to mess up the schedule.
"My skin looks dull," I murmured under my breath, seeing the gloominess replacing the charm of my face. I applied various products, followed by putting on my clothes and blow-drying my hair.
I reached the kitchen and looked around to prepare something for dinner. I gave up on the idea of ordering any restaurant dish as I had been fed up eating them for over two weeks.
My phone rang. The screen displayed an incoming video call from my husband. Without wasting a moment, I answered gaily and placed it with the support of the wall on the kitchen counter.
