"Lord Sixth, the ANBU you sent out before has yet to report back. We cannot ignore it; send some chūnin or jōnin to investigate!" Shikamaru exclaimed in frustration.
Kakaski looked out the window as he considered the situation.
Shikamaru led this mission from the village, and he was the most qualified for it. With his jutsu and intellectual mind, he was the only one qualified for it.
"I have been to the Land of Silence before. It is full of criminals and rogue ninjas. But what about the curtain village? It is dangerously close to the capital! We must take action!" Shikamaru added on.
"Please send Shino, Kiba, and Hinata. They will go and look into it further. If more reinforcements are required, I will compile a list of ninja who are far more qualified," Kakashi explained.
Shikamaru sighed, relieved. "Thanks, Lord Sixth. More ninja may be required for this mission, but I will count on them." He turned to leave the room, leaving Kakashi looking out the window.
He allowed himself to become overly concerned about the village's current situation. The ANBUs that were sent have yet to report in, and they are supposed to be the best. What kind of person-strong enough to defeat the ANBU-could have gotten to them?
Kakashi immediately summoned Sai.
"Lord Sixth, did you summon me?" Sai appeared before Kakashi who had closed eyes. He was debating on whether he should send reinforcements now, but that will only blow their mission. "Sai, I would like you to investigate the history of Curtain Village. Gather as much information as you can about their recent or past events, and report it to me right away."
Sai's eyes widened as he received the sudden order, but he followed through. "Of course, I am on it."
When Sai left, Kakashi went to sit in his chair. The worst-case scenario is that they will be dealing with an S-ranked criminal.
The Sixth Hokage will not let his ninja die during this mission.

Ayame stood before the deceased ANBU. Each of them had a broken mask and bones.
Kuro entered the scene and used his lighting style to eliminate the final enemy.
"Lighting Style: Blinding Blade!" Kuro exclaimed as he slashed his blade of light through the enemy's heart, causing them to fall forward.
The beautiful woman approached a still-breathing ANBU and grabbed his hair, pulling him up to meet her gaze. "Who sent you?," she demanded.
He remained quiet. She activated her Hoshigan, looked into the past, and discovered a leaf symbol. She let go of him and stepped backward, panting.
"Ayame!" Kuro exclaimed as she stopped him. "Do not use that ability; it wears you out..." Kuro stated worried.
Ayame glared at him. "So what? I am the one with these eyes. That pain means nothing. "I will just have to overcome it..." She responded as she regained control of herself.
"The Hidden Leaf. They are coming. We must prepare because I am sure there will be more coming here. And if they do, do not hesitate to kill them. We show no mercy." Ayame declared.
She quickly performed her hand signs, and a lighting frame appeared; she walked through it and looked at Kuro on the other side. "Do not fail me, Kuro," were her final words before the frame closed.
Kuro stood there silently. He gave the ANBU an evil glare and used his jutsu to depose the bodies.
"No one will get past, Lady Ayame. "She is just that powerful..." Kuro spoke as he walked out of the building.
In her book, she only has one jutsu: Ayame's lighting portal. Kuro, on the other hand, is simply a pawn for her.
Kuro looked out from the castle, admiring the scenery.
The entire capital will soon be a disaster, as it has been before.
